hi i can assure that they will get on fine i have a 6month staffie and a cat of 12yrs i was worried at first and the pup followed the cat every where and the cat was constantly hissing and lashing out and i must admit i was getting cross with the pair of them but i know they needed time to adjust to things themselves ie the pup being away from her mum and siblings and the cat not having the run of the house no more but it took about 2 weeks and harmony was restored they get on just fine they even sleep together constantly eat each others food lol that's because they even eat together too so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about and enjoy getting this adorable little staffie good luck x

They should be fine I've got two cats there about 4&5years old and I've got two English Bull Terriers they are both young one is 10months and the other is 4months old the youngest cat loves to play fight with the dogs the older one is a bit more timid and the dogs pretty much leaver her alone or they giver her a sniff and a lick on occasions. Your cat may feel threatened but that should all settle down after a while but please don't get the dog if it all falls down on how the cat will react if you want the dog get one but don't get rid of it if it doesn't get on with the cat or vice verca. You can always see what the cat is like by inviting a friends well behaved dog around a few days and see if the cat eventually settles with it on it's territory. As the cat is pretty young it shouldn't mind too much. Don't buy a staffie under 8 weeks though it won't have been with it's mother long enough and they are a stocky breed so need all the nutritional support from mum to help them grow strong and lessen any chances of weak bones illness etc. Any reputable breeder wont be able by law to sell a pup under 8 weeks anyway do your homework and enjoy your animals.
P.S. Bitches aren't always the calm ones, mine is manic and my boys are cool as cucumbers.

RE:
Will a cat and a staffordshire bull terrier live together without killing each other?
We already have a 7 month old tabby cat, and my boyfriend wants to get a staffordshire bull terrier as he loves dogs. I've agreed on the condition that we buy the dog as a young puppy and it must be female. Will that make things more peaceful between the cat and dog?
Does anyone have...

well i have a 5 year old tom cat and a 7 month old puppy staffordshire bull terrier and they are very good together they dont sleep together but they play. I was quite worried about the same question you have asked but i was quite lucky.
I feel if you get your staffie as a puppy you can teach it to be nice to your cat.

I have both a German Shepherd and a 12 year old cat. They get along well. The best you can try is to get the puppy when it is around 6 weeks old - as long as the pup is eating well. A German Shepherd pup is much bigger than a Staffie, but that shouldn't stop you. Teach the pup obedience as soon as possible in order to control the tendencies to chase and/or maul your cat. This also worked well with my previous German Shepherd and the same cat. Best wishes!

I have three cats and a staffie and they all get on great!!! Staffies have a fantastic temperament and will accept the cat as part of the family, however it may take your cat a little while to settle, having a dog in the house....good luck

I dont see why not. I have a female (fixed) Staffie, and she gets along well with my pet rabbit. She will acutally sit quietly and watch the rabbit hop around the house, and at times will sniff and lick the bunny, but never hurts it. (Which is VERY unusual since my Staffie has killed wild rabbits twice already) She also gets along well with my other dog, a Border Collie, who is male. Be sure to train your Staffi, they can be headsttrong and aggressive.
