I think it is because we understand so little about how life and people work ... we see movies and we want to believe that is what life is like ... after all movies, art and literature portray a wonderful fantasy world that appeals to us.
No one wants to get hurt ... it is like saying a parachutist would not mind if their chute did not open ... we just do not understand how to avoid it, and we value the emotional feeling and satisfaction we get.
Some people are better at others figuring out how to deal with these kinds of things ... but you cannot really talk to people about it because you can shake their cherished illusions about how the world and life is.
It is like religion, it is one of those very personal things that is subject to science and logic, but most people do not think they can ever understand it or do not want to - so they just go with the flow wherever it may lead ... good or bad.

Some people like the drama of it but most don't. That great feeling of love isn't going to trigger memories of pain because they're nothing alike. As you get older (hopefully), you start to see the signs of a bad choice and get out of it before it goes too far. It also doesn't help that people lie to get whatever they want. It's hard to know what real and what's not. Not everyone wants to be cynical their whole life. That's a pretty miserable existence so we try and try again and hope that we get right. That's just life, not seeking pain.

Hi there!
(Tasha, that was a good answer.)
Well, I dont think people want the pain and sufferring to happen, it just happens... but it happens to help you to grow and learn, in a positive way- hopefully you will see the positive for yourself in 'bad' situations, to help you in a positive way to learn and grow in these experiences. I see it that in relationships, you may think 'this has to be love' because there is a great care and need for eachother etc. but actually you are only with that person for a lesson- either if its to teach him something or to learn from him or for both of you to learn. Unfortunately in most cases a person hopes it is love, they want it to be love and cant see that it is a love in a different way- not a 'binding' love, but a 'sharing' love. And once the lesson is learnt, then it is time to move on, it can end in a friendly way, or it can end in a nasty way. People are just scared of having to face the truth of their feelings and then try to hide or/and deny it untill it cant be 'hidden' any longer. Hope this has helped you.
All the best!

Come what may against Juve Celtic will leave Europe with millions to strengthen the squad. The Lennon Era is just beginning. The slow learners will see the errors of their ways eventually.

I am a sufferer. I do it in the name of love. With all that hurt you learn how to deal with it and sometimes how to avoid it and eventually you find the love that's just right for you.

Because without love life is so dull. It is worth the risk of being hurt to feel that blissful joy.
