Kinda iffy. Of course you can put out money and get the best players money can buy and have a great shot at the World Series this can be said about any sport. I think you see this comment most when team owners aren't consistent with their approach to making a great team. I don't consider the Sox or yankees bought teams because their management always gambles that way and they have the revenue. I do consider the Marlins, Diamondbacks bought championship because they dismantled the team weeks after their ring. It also hurts that both these organizations were in the final year for their respective stadiums leases to be up and they wanted new ones. They've never made the effort to assemble a team like that since.

Look on the website of the company that owns the transport you use (ie. first for buses) and they'll be able to help. You'll be able to tell if there are travelcards as most commuters will use them! If I paid for a return everyday it would cost me £3.30 but I pay for a travelcard at £45.00 per month. Lots cheaper when you factor in not having to break a £10 note by buying something to get change for the bus eevery day!!

Try getting the Oyster Card. I used it for a weeklong trip and it was a lot cheaper than having to pay everyday. Plus, you just tap it on the fare reader.

yes, you can buy weekly, monthly and longer season tickets which work out cheaper aslong as you use them at least 5 days per week during peak times (usually, its best to compare)

You will need a passport sized photo of yourself when you go to get it and they give you a plastic wallet.

Yes you should be able to buy monthly. Ask at the ticket office of your local train station will be able to tell you.
