If it's not a serious relationship, ditch him. It's probably not worth it. If it is a serious relationship, you need to get help both for yourself because you've got to have some issues to be putting up with abuse like that and hopefully for him and his drinking problem. No one deserves to be treated like garbage or to feel like garbage. Alcoholism is an addiction. You can't just beg him to stop. He has to want to stop and more often than not alcoholics need professional help.

Get out. Alcoholism is a horrible disease. If he's reached that point there is nothing you can do but leave. HE must choose to quit, you can't make that choice for him. If you have told it bothers you and he doesn't care then you are not worth much to him. If you do get the guts to leave and he calls and says he will stop, start over and slowly but not until he has quit drinking. If you go back before that he will see that are weak and he can continue to walk on you. Trust me here, I have seen this several times and been where you are ONCE, won't let it happen again.

Don't turn into a punching bag or a statistic. Tell him he has two choices: drinking or you. I hate to say this, but girlfriends or wives often are put into a position where they think they can change their mates. It doesn't happen that way. If the verbal abuse doesn't end, then you can expect a progression of possible violence: "raising his hands to me..." Don't fall for any one liners or excuses anymore. If things don't change, leave him before you get emotionally trapped into a bad scene. I've seen it all too often to know. Bottom line: FIRST, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

I applaud ALL the above answers. I hear these tales of woes daily.
I make one strong suggestion for immediate ACTION. At least look up a
local chapter/group of ALANON and GO to several of their meetings and
LISTEN. Read some recommended brochures etc.
IF this relationship IS NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH for you to absolutely
follow the above suggestions, then GET OUT NOW AND DON'T GO BACK!
Get your advice from the people who live it, have lived, and KNOW.
I'm sorry, but I told you the truth and the truth will make you free.

If a guy is hitting you, whether he is drunk or not, that is a bad situation that you should try to get out of. If he loves drinking more than you then you should think about how much you love yourself.

run, baby run
its not worth it, time to do the core dump.

next time, if he hit you, kill him and call the cop tell them you are scared for your safety..
