Hi Kim...consider trying paper bags, cardboard boxes, plastic bottle cap tops, rings from the necks of plastic beverage bottles, corks, wadded up paper ball. Some of the best toys for cats can be free and you can always replace them when they are worn out or she has become bored.

With cats it's important to rotate toys every so often so the toys become new again. Cats get bored if they are left out all the time so they lose interest. By putting some away and then bringing them back out after some time has passed they think it's brand new toys again too.

[edit] please note that any string-like toys should ONLY be given under full 100% supervision. Cats accidentally ingest string quite frequently which becomes life-threatening and requires surgery. String twists itself around the intestinal tract and slices through it. Please the following article about the dangers of string-like substances: http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/pet_pourri/85248

This is what works for Me. Get a Radio [Remote] Controlled Toy, preferably a Dump Truck. Put some extra good Food in the Truck, where "Kitty" can used to Eating from it. Once Identified as a "Special" source of Food, with the Regular Food still in a Bowl, with Water next to it, slowly "Drive" the Truck away from, [not toward] "Kitty". Be very careful not to Scare or Startle Her. She will follow the Truck, and continue eating from it. Gradually build up the Speed. After awhile, She will "Nail" it at full Speed, and Identify it as a source of Amusement, rather than Food ! Cats are Natural Born Predators, and they need something to Attack ! When She gets really good at it, make a Video of it, and submit it to "America's funniest Home Videos" !

she may just be maturing a little. my female cat got like that around 6 months. she just doesnt seem amused as much. getting another cat can help but in my case it didnt. when i brought home my youngest cat at a whopping 2 days old (rescued abandoned stray) she started playing even less when the new kitten was big enough to play with her. I'd try to get them to be social together w/ toys and the 6 month old would attempt to play but the littler one was faster and more spunky so she'd lose interest even faster. She's still incredibly cuddly and friendly but she really doesnt play at all anymore. The other girl suggested some great free ideas. Personally my cats are obsessed with wads of tinfoil. and the refridgerator(don't ask me why... I dont get it either...they always try to hop in it)

you can play with her, it doesn't have to be with toys. give her a milk ring...you know the ones that come on the gallons of milk. they go crazy over it. buy her a new toy..they dont cost a lot. two dollars tops because it doesn't have to be super big or expensive. little mice do the trick.

Then try to play with it or make it do exercises and let her slide 20 times over the slide without holding her.
If not buy a new one

Two words - retail therapy!! Get her a scratchpost that she can climb - my bored kitten responded VERY well to one of those.
It can't hurt to get her a friend.

Also, if she doesn't seem herself - get her checked out by the Vet just to be on the safe side. Can't hurt.

Hi there. Try rotating her toys and making cheap alternatives. A ball of yarn, cellophane, a catnip toy. If you rotate them, she won't tire of them easily. Have a purrfect day.

Yes! Another kitten. My cats are brother and sister, partners in crime. Get them fixed when they are 6 months though. I have had no problems because I got them fixed so early. They say that if you are going to get one cat you should get two because it is no more trouble to take care of two than it is to take Care of one.
