Sustagen and milk can help. I have my son on this as he has the same problem with a very fast metabolism and being extremely active.
You should also perhaps visit a dietitian to get a diet specifically for you.

Muscle weighs more than fat. Buidling muscle will help you gain weight. Anybody that tells you to eat fat or sugar filled foods is an idiot! You don't want heart trouble or diabetes. Eat healthy and get a personal trainer. Tell the trainer your goal is to gain weight. Protien drinks will help build muscle mass IF you ALSO work out! These drinks make protien available to the body as it tries to recover from weight lifting. This results in the gradual building of muscle. It's okay to be light! :) AS LONG AS YOU ARE REALLY EATING WELL! See you doctor too! Good luck!

Start a weight lifting regimen. For muscle weighs more than fat.
Work out every other day.
Add 300-500 calories per day. Specifically eat more in the evening and a small breakfast.
Just before going to bed eat a full tablespoon of peanut butter. Sounds funny but it will work.
GOOD LUCK!!!

It depends on what kind of weight you want to gain. Useless fat or some muscle. Muscle, do a weight training regimen. You can go to http://www.bodybuilding.com or just do a search for weightlifting. You will also need to adjust your caloric intake and the above website has calculators for that purpose. If you dont care what you put on your frame, then eat foods high in calories. Whole milk and peanut butter is what they get young children to eat to gain weight.
I think it would be better to gain the muscle. Fat is unsightly and tends to go where it wants to go. Muscle will look very nice on you. My sister was your size and after 8 weeks in basic training (running, pushups, situps, rucksack marches, etc.) she came back still thin but she had muscles and that looked really good on her.

I was naturally really skinny when I was young, just like you. (Even when pregnant- I looked like I was smuggling a basketball and went right back down afterwards. OOh the women hated that!)
I started what I called the Ultra Fat Fast diet, and it worked! Every night for a long time I ate either chips and dip or a chocolate shake. We're talking LATE at night, so I didn't burn it off. Actually got a figure that way.

Keeping in mind that I am not a health professional in any sense...
I am assuming you have been screened for hormone function, parasites, medicine side-effects, food allergies, etc.
I have met people who have had sucess gaining weight by taking a high quality ( whole food, organic) multi-vitamin as well as supplementing their diet. I know that senior citizens often have trouble keeping weight, and are often told to get a whey(milk)-based protien powder and to mix it with ice cream. It's high calorie and high protien.
Other than that, I would say try to get people around you to help. Eat places where there are high calorie meals. Find people who are pro-eating, who enjoy eating for fun. As long as you are relatively healthy, forget what's "sensible" to eat, and eat whatever you feel like. Maybe your body is trying to tell you what you are deficient in.

I have a very good suggestion for you.

Don't try to slow down your metabolism, don't try to gain fat.

Exercise! Muscle weighs quite an amount, and it burns more food than fat, too!

By the way, I'm sure you already know that you'll get older and your metabolism will slow down, so be happy it's so good now!

Quit the Standard American Diet (SAD) and take a new route. Check out Dr. John McDougall's website. His (underweight) patients gain weight eating a healthy diet.

Just dont exercise. only eat. and ask your doctor too to help you and what you can eat. You can try lots of peanut butter- its healthy but also contains lots of fat and calories so you will gain weight with it. (eat from every other food group too of course)- you could try building muscle (it weighs more than fat... but it might be hard for you since your thin)

Just eat high calorie foods, 3 to 5 times per day. Don't exercise.
