i believe it would be better if you get your pet just regular store bought dog food. these food are nutritionally balanced and prepared specially for a dog diet. it does not matter if the brand is a store brand. they are better for your dog as you may not be a nutritionist and may not be giving your dog the nutrients she needs. that is why she may be shedding when she shouldn't.

you can buy a big 40 lbs bag of just regular dog food from any grocery and feed her twice a day based on the instructions. you can also buy your little baby some special treats....just inexpensive ones.

but please if you can, please do not feed her any more fish or any food you yourself eat as dogs have their own chemistry and are not like humans.

in a week or so you will notice that she would stop shedding and will be healthier. also, buy her special treats and not give her any candy even if she likes it......it is not good for her. what you can do is every time you give her a treat, give yourself a candy so both of you can enjoy each of your treats together.

Can't really be sure on why she is shedding but usually its not something good since maltese don't really shed. She could be allergic to fish so you could try changin the food to lamb or chicken. Also depends on the age of you maltese, since young pups (4-6 months) would shed cause they are changing from a baby fur to adult fur.Candy isn't all that good for dogs...wouldn't recommend it!

I cant say for sure that fish could be causing this, but any unbalanced diet can cause an unhealthy coat. Also, candy in any form, should not be given to your dog as its has no nutritional value. Its not a matter of whats bad for her, but what is good for her.
