I have recently acquired residence and am wondering if I should file taxes with my spouse? Would it help us save? Or are there any other advantages of filling taxes together?

Your only choices are to file jointly or seperately. Jointly save taxes in 99% of time. The only time filing seperately saves is if the lower paid spouse has certain deductions that would be lost by filing jointly, such as medical expenses. You should compute your taxes both ways and file the return that results in the lowest tax.
