The bible foretells of Jesus' coming. There is no one after him. Read the bible, it's in there.

I'm agnostic, so i can't really answer your question. I don't necessarily buy into the concept when it allegedly produced Jesus (though i won't say it is impossible, because I don't know), so I couldn't really buy it now. I just wanted to say that you raised a good point. Half the world would probably allege this to be blasphemous/unreal and the other part would probably regard him as a messiah. Who knows? I think your question is great, and I would love to here a solid Christian's opinion on the matter.

Virgin birth stories were very common in 1st Century Eastern Mediterranean lands. The first mention of a virgin birth story about Jesus appears in Matthew's gospel (c70-100), and is notably absent from earlier Christian writings (Paul and Mark).
Matthew was very keen to connect his narrative to prophesies in the earlier Jewish scriptures. If you read the book from start to finish, the repetition of "this was done to fulfill the scriptures" makes this obvious.
Unfortunately, Matthew was going on a Greek translation of the scriptures (the Septuagint), and didn't realise that the Greek "virgin" was a mistranslation of the Hebrew for"young woman". The rest is gynaecological history.

Really, how many husbands would buy a line of crap like that?
No one believed it then, either. Jesus only had a few dozen followers. There are no records, or evidence, from anywhere in the region at the time that mention any great number of people going to see or following anyone like Jesus.
If Jesus was really welcomed in Jerusalem by big large adoring crowds of followers throwing flowers (sort of like America in Iraq, huh), why did they crucify him just days later (sort of like America in Iraq, huh)?
Those people were illiterate goat herders with no knowledge of the physical world (let alone the ability to conduct paternity tests).
Other than the collection of their myths, fables, and folktales that became the Bible, their only other lasting contributions to mankind and the human race were circumcision and having sex with sheep. It is really bizarre, actually.

Who says I wouldn't accept it happening today? You must remember that Jesus followers knew what miracles are, and claimed that Jesus performed them. If someone were walking around performing miracles today, the atheists still wouldn't believe - they'd dismiss them as some sort of "scientific power we don't yet understand."
Atheists think they are smart because they close their minds to everything they can't see, taste, touch, or experience. But this is only smart if the supernatural doesn't really exist. If the world works the way the Christians claim, with miracles, angels, God, and all of that, then Atheists don't look quite so smart, do they?

you see a very small seed a became a plane tree,
you see a zigot cell became a thinking ,feeling, acting, singing human,
you believe these happens in front of your eyes,
why dont you believe the Almigty Creator created a human just from the mother's cell?
It doesnt happen all the time, but the time Almighty willls, he changes the scientific laws and it happens, it is called MIRACLE.
***
but I dont agree Jesus Christ was the son of God.Father-son relations are human. We are talking about the Almighty. He does not need to have a son.Jesus was a prophet, human,a divine spirit.( peace be upon Him)

Pay close attention to what the person born is like. If he is gentle, wise and just, like no other before or after, perhaps the accounts are true. But if he is an arrogant SOB, chances are he's a false Messiah with false claims.

Christ's birth was foretold for thousands and thousands of years before it happened. It was in the fulfillment of prophecy that Christ was born to a virgin. So since this prophecy stands fulfilled there is no necessity for Christ to be born again, via a virgin birth. Secondly, God has given His followers a means whereby the truth may be separated from the error. We have the Holy Spirit to help us know the truth or falsity of a certain thing. Prayer is a powerful thing that if utilized will enable you to comprehend the truth or falsity of a certain claim. God has not left us without help.

That's not the only thing that happened though. A record of His amazing deeds are there for all to see. If that happened today, stadiums would be filled to see Him. He was like a rock star, except He could actually sing, walk on water, heal the sick, feed the hungry, and make sense of the confusion of the world.

personally, i believe that religion was created a long time ago to explain what science could not. as we come to understand our world through science, there is less need for religion. i think people still choose to believe in religion because it is easier to accept something on blind faith, rather than the cold truth of science. i am an athiest. i don't believe that immaculate conception happened thousands of years ago, and i wouldn't believe it if it happened today.

Were there prophecies written about this child hundreds of years before he was born, telling the city he would be born in, his family tree, the miracles he would perform, the manner of death he would die, and that he would rise from the dead?
Didn't think so.
