The Christers are the only ones who consistently tell everybody else that they are all on their way to Hell, unless they believe in Jeeeeeeeeeeesus. That makes them a target for free thinkers.

Mainly because the story of the Christ Is more popular Than any other figure in religion and Have you ever tried to convince a christian that he might be wrong...I'm not saying they are I'm just asking you a question.......The bible has been translated into more languages than any other book in the history of the world and read by more people than any other written material in the world... I guess that makes for a pretty good start on why so many arguments are started and wars fought over Christianity..

Saying that non-christians are obsessed with christianity is like saying Martin Luther King Jr. was obsessed with white people.
Go read the Japanese language and Indian language pages if you want to see theism other than christ-insanity. The christ cult gets the most discussion on the English language page because it's the predominant danger - oops, cult - oops, religion - in English language countries.

I think it's because there is no more obnoxious religion in the world than Christianity. Say what you will about the other nut jobs, at least they have the decency to shun sinners like me. You know how Jews don't 'really' think you're a Jew if you converted or married in? Hell, the only religion that is more vocal than those mad Muslims about how the West will burn in hell are our god damned Bible-humping neighbours.
Do us doomed bastards a favour-- if you're gonna crap all over us and our 'wicked' ideas-- just hate us and leave us alone. Quit trying to solicit me at home!
Do you mind? I was busy snorting cocaine and having gay sex with a nun.

Well, since more than half of all people who have religion at least claim to be christian it seems normal that it would come up most of the time. Since it is so common many people feel that they know about it, or at least enough about it to ask/answer a question concerning it.

Well first we persecuted the Jews over the first couple of thousand years, then Jesus came & the Jews didn't look so crazy anymore. Then some Jews became Christians making them an easy target, because we believe that a Jew who was really God came to us so that they could murder him & humiliate Him on that cross to save you & I from going to Hell. I think that makes us a very easy target. And all we want to do is show you a better way to live & show you how to let God lead you to heaven. But if you don't want to know thats fine by me, because I don't have to judge you when you die, God does! And he is going to ask you a lot of questions starting with things like, "what have you done in your life worthy of the kingdom of heaven?" & "Why didn't you not listen when they tried to tell you of My glory & forgivness? "

Why do most of the questions in Religion and Spirituality deal with vague generalities and preconceptions which, in turn, foster no real answers only surveys?

Because many us posing and answering questions in the science or other culture related areas get a bit sick of having christians throw around lines like: "How can you believe evolution blah blah blah god did it", or, "Your lifestyle choices/political views/culture is sick and depraved your all going to hell! God hates you." Generally in barely literate English, so we come over here to have a little dig back.
Oh and also because of racist and mis-informed comments from christians like; "The only difference is that Muslims kill (jihad) to get into paradise & Hindus don't."

Because it is the most widespread religion of English-speaking people. But Muslims and others show up here also.

I wish for more variety too. Perhaps you can post some questions asking about other religions and beliefs. Spice things up a bit.
