Most vets recommend cropping at 8-14 weeks. You will just need to speak to your vet and ask what requirements that they have for cropping. Some make you have all of the puppies vaccinations up to date and they have to see the dog more than once before they will preform the procedure.

Unfortunately, I agree that it is completely unnecessary to clip a dogs ears. There is a lot of pain associated with a surgery that is only performed for looks. However, you did not ask this question just to be lectured. So, to answer your question, their ears should be clipped between 8 and 14 weeks of age. A lot of veterinarians do not actually preform the surgery anymore. However, if you find a vet to do the surgery, ask what he/she thinks. The norm is 10-12 weeks of age. In addition, his tail should already be docked. If it is not, there is a chance that the breeder does not agree with tail docking. Most vets will not dock a puppy's tail after the age of 7 days. There is a chance you will be able to find a vet that will dock the puppy's tail when he/she is older but when it is done at an older age, the surgery is actually a bone surgery. The tail is formed and there will be more pain and possible phantom pains once the dog is grown and the tail has healed. Hope this helps.

Its an absolutely horrible thing to do to your Boxer.
Its painful, unnecessary, archaic, atrocious and should be banned in America the way it is in the rest of the world. I cringe when I see Boxers with their ears brutalized.
At 8 to 12 weeks old when the pup is at a crucial stage of development. I still maintain its a completely unnecessary, aesthetic and brutal treatment. You will have trouble finding a vet to do this operation. The majority of vets abhor this treatment and strongly oppose it.
The decision is yours but just think,,,, and make sure you see examples of this vet's work before you let him/her crop your dog's ears.

DON'T!!!! natural ears are beautiful. cropping a dogs ears are cruel and in many countries illegal. it is asteticaly pleasing to the owner but does not do the dog 1 bit of good. Taping the ears will be a chore and theres the chance the ears will fall just ruining the dog.

Generally, "cropping" is done between 9-12 wks, but some vets are doing it sooner. Personally, with our dobermans, 9-10 wks has worked great.

I would go never. They are cuter without that. Plus why bother to pay money to cut off a piece of a dog. If it was supposed to come without it it wouldve evolved that way.
