Only the soul/spirit/consciousness is eternal. The physical body goes in the ground or is cremated and ceases to exist. Jesus did not resurrect physically, because he survived the crucifixion. That's why there is no physical body in the tomb. He lived for another 30 some odd years and it is unknown where his "remains" were buried.

To be raised physically would have negated the Covenant of the Sacrificial Lamb. When the Jews were to sacrifice the lamb in the Temple for the forgiveness of their sins, they were to slit its throat and allow its soul to pour out on the ground. Next, they were to destroy the flesh by fire, followed by taking the ashes into the Most Holy, crawling on their hands and knees under the Great Curtain of woven gold that completely covered the Most Holy and contained the Power of God.
Jesus was the Lamb of God. To fulfill the covenant, his soul or blood had to be spilled on the ground and his flesh destroyed. All that he was than was recorded in the Book of Life. On the third day, he was resurrected by what he was being downloaded into a new body, a spirit body. This was the second example of a resurrection.
Lazarus was the first type. By the time his was resurrected, the chemical bounds that makes up memory would have broken down, so when his physical body was resurrected, everything he was had to be downloaded into its brain.
As for Christ, now that he was a spirit being, he could ascend to heaven when he was ready.

I'm impressed that you're thinking about Metaphysics at this time of the morning!
Unfortunately we've got it the wrong way around. Heaven is more real than the physical world.
If you think about it in terms of how we see particles in say a gas verses a solid. Jesus post resurection was more real than what we can touch and sense ... this is how he could walk through earthly walls etc.
In the Old Testament when Solomon finally builds the Temple for God, God's glory, his presence fills it and the priests couldn't get in because God's presence was solid... physical... more physical than they were.
So getting to heaven will be a bit like in the film "The Others" with Niccole Kiddman where we realise that we were the "ghosts" - we were the ones who were like gas. We will be more real then than we are now - C S Lewis picks up Plato's theme of this a lot in his philosophical works if you're interested in reading any more about it.
Hope that makes sense

What makes you say that heaven is only for spiritual beings? The Bible says that when this world passes away and the new one comes everyone will be given a new "heavenly" body. What exactly that entails, I don't know, but I do know that Jesus is alive and that he was resurrected physically. He was seen rising into Heaven. Whether he still exists in the same physical body, I don't know, but I don't think it really matters. Jesus is the Son of God, and God in the flesh, and he died for our sins so we wouldn't have to pay the penalty for them. that's what matters.

Not if, but when.....The answer is He is in Heaven. No, Heaven isn't only for spirit beings. Not sure where people get this idea. Heaven is a real physical place. Jesus is sitting on His throne! Praise God!

forgive me for my confusion. some say Jesus is the son of God. Others say that Jesus is God. Since little, i've always wonder how Jesus can be the son of God and the God at the same time. If Jesus is God, then God was baby who was born with blood all over him, need to be feed, and have to learn. And later, the great God was murdered by some weak human? God should be better than that. And now some people say that he have child. So, that baby would be like the grandchild of God and also the child of God? So much confusion. Who have the final say then? God-father, Jesus-God or baby-Jesus God? lets have some critical thinking about that. i'm going to convert to religion with only one God. life should be simple. simple is good, but not any simpler.what about you?

That is most likely a tall tale. For all we know, his followers hid his body in order for them to say he resurrected. There is no video footage of Jesus actually rising from the dead and later ascending into heaven. And even if there were videos, those could have been faked. This is all hearsay, and I don't believe any of it. All the believers are faithful brainwashed fanatics whose only source is the flawed, man-made Bible.
