Ok.....so i have been smoke free for about 4 months now, and I have been working out. Last Monday I had worked out just fine, was benching 145 lbs to start with and went up to about 170 lbs. The weekend came along and I decided to smoke one black and mild (saturday night). Now, monday afternoon again I can't even lift 145 lbs, I was lifting 100 lbs, and couldn't go up any further. I felt real weak, and tired. When will i get my strength back?

Why on earth would you think the smoke reduced your strength??? That's silly and comes from this politically correct society we now endure. When I was young, I regularly military pressed 250 pounds (we didn't mess with bench pressing in those days, considered it wussy stuff) and could clean and jerk 350. Not bad for 5'8" and 175 pounds. I was smoking about a pack a day at the time. Look for actual reasons, not some scapegoat to lay your temporary weakness off on. Maybe you didn't get enough sleep, or eat enough protein, or were just flat tired. And just maybe your body didn't want to go through the routine that day. Be realistic.

Good for you! I quit smoking too and I've stumbled along the way as well (I'm a runner, you're a weightlifter... same difference)

But, the "no strength" thing has more to do with your diet, sleep, vitamins, and (as mention in other posts) state of mind than it does having a smokers relapse.

Consider that even the beginning stages of a cold or flu can also attribute to the loss of energy / strength.

so you've given up? good for you! From the first 24 hours your lungs willbe healing themselves, so give it time. Your sense of small and taste will improve no end, too. If you get a cough don't worry, your lungs are recovering! Just keep working on overall fitness, you'll certainly be stronger than you were 4 months ago as a smoker.

I don't think is was because you smoked a back and mild.. Did you eat a good meal before you had you last workout? Did you get enough sleep. Those factors would affect your bench press results

When you start your day with a nutritious breakfast and stop thinking your muscle strength is "altered" by a Black and Mild

It wasn't the black and mild. Some other root cause.
