As a professional, I assure you there is no other way to eliminate a split end other than cutting it. If you don't trim off the split, it can continue to split up the entire hair to the scalp. Seek a pro for a good health trim for that.

As for your color, retouching when you feel you need it is fine. I have clients that come in every two weeks to those who come in every eight weeks for touch ups. If it's bugging you, touch it up. Remember, though, a touch up is just that. New color should be applied to the new hair growth, not all over to the ends. Blend this new growth with your older color by brushing a few swipes of color midway through your hair. That is a safe choice that will produce the least amount of damage.

If you flat iron your hair daily, you are damaging it daily. A protective treatment for use with a thermal styling tool is absolutely necessary. I would recommend Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum. It's a polisher that is applied before you iron your hair to protect and seal in moisture while reducing damage. You may also want to seek the advice of your salon pro since they will obviously know your hair best.

Best of luck!

I use "Phyto Anti-Frizz Phytodefrisant Botanical hair relaxing balm". It works the best on my hair- i have thick naturally wavy hair which is very hard to control, but this tames it well without blow-drying or using a straightener. After washing my hair, I just run this through with a comb and when my hair dries, it's straight. You can find it at any Pure Beauty store or a Victoria's Secret store.

When I used to color my hair, I would only color my hair every 6 months and then do touch-ups to cover the roots in between-every 3 months. Right now, I have highlights which are a whole lot easier to maintain since I only have to do touch-ups every 6 months. Coloring too often can cause tremendous damage to your hair shafts.

Weeeell the only way to rid yourself of split ends is to trim them off. Your hair wont grow with split ends.

Also, you have split ends because you put heat on it every day. And dont dye your hair so much. Just do a quick touch up on your roots when they get too long. If you dye your hair as much as you do AND put heat everyday your hair will start breaking off & falling out.

Everytime you dye your hair it gets thinner and thinner, thats why its important to touch up your roots without overlapping dye over dye.

Everyday heat will deffinately invite split ends.
Everyone that said Pantene is the best for your situation is right! I also liked what MCM said in answer to your question about what she uses to streaighten her hair. Sounds good. Good Luck!!!! : )

hack em off! just ask your stylist for a trim if you want to keep your length. if you tell them it's because of split ends, they'll try not to cut too much. and to prevent it, just keep your hair moisturized. try not to blow dry/straighten/iron your hair too much, use serums, etc... but no matter what you do, they'll come back eventually, and the best solution is a hair cut.

dont touch up that often... maybe 4 times a year.
if u're going to straighten it every morning, you might as well get it done at a salon.
leave conditioner in the ends longer.

I've heard that in ancient times they burned them off. This would also seal the cutical. I don't think you should try it though. Other than scissors, no. nothing can reseal dead and split ends.
