Lol - pinoy atheist, I can tell you're new to Yahoo Answers - your insults are very lacking in imagination. Never mind, there's always next time

I could argue that providing the best possible answer that I can on Yahoo Answers could be considered a 'religious' duty.

Considering the amount of people who come to this place, whether it be because Yahoo is popular (as opposed to religion.net or something else) or because this IS the place for answers, some people could be using this to reach more people than normal.

I deal with the individual question individually; answering each according to the best answer I have. Sometimes that means repeating myself, sometimes not. If other people happen to read the answer, and take comfort or offense by it, that is of secondary concern to me.

Christian
Yes, as long as you do it in an open and honest way, without coercion or violence of any kind. Accepting a religion is a truly personal decision and should be totally out of free will.
"Convincing" with violence is one of the worst things you can do.
It is a Christian's duty to make sure everyone has heard the true word of God and has had a chance to accept it. If it goes beyond that, it is most likely wrong (I'm hesitant to say "never", there are exceptions to almost every rule).

None at all. I think evangelism is counter productive. It's what's bad about religion. When you tell people what they should believe you're implying that what they do believe is wrong and that's arrogant and insulting. Most people who "witness" their religion haven't witnessed anything, they're just reciting lines. People recognize a canned speech and lose respect for the speaker. Telling people that it's their duty to spread the faith causes more problems than it solves and is the biggest cause of religious bigotry and hatred.

No. In fact just the opposite, we're not supposed to go out and convert people. If someone asks about my religion I'll be happy to explain as best I can. But you will never see any Ásatrúars going out attempting to convert anyone. We feel that everyone has the right to follow whatever path and that there is no one true religion, different people have different ways of viewing the world and that's how it should be.

Me I like to spread anachy to keep them pesky religious types on thier toes, not to mention giving them something to talk about.

quite frankly if people preach to me i would be not only annoyed but also they would stand a good chance of recieving a fist to the head.

Do the seriously not think i have the brain power to make up my own decisions in my own sweet time.

The time for missionaries is long since past.

I am sooooooooo over it.....

Hi, I am Christian and yes of course....it's not that we want to come across pushy or what have you...It's more like this....we know Jesus...we know Him as our saviour....and well we want the world to know Him to...as for other religions I would think it is a similar thought process....I don't go around preaching and all that fun stuff...i just try to live by example and I am not always good at that either.....if you knew about something that was in your opinion the greatest thing ever would you not want to tell the world......

People who are infected religious hosts spread the religious meme to others, most commonly they willingly infect their own children with the religious meme and so it carries on through generations.

The religious meme is a parasitic mind-virus or information package it has it's own propagation as it's primary concern.

I pulled this from the Catechism -

848 "Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men."

429 From this loving knowledge of Christ springs the desire to proclaim him, to "evangelize", and to lead others to the "yes" of faith in Jesus Christ. But at the same time the need to know this faith better makes itself felt. To this end, following the order of the Creed, Jesus' principal titles - "Christ", "Son of God", and "Lord" (article 2) - will be presented. The Creed next confesses the chief mysteries of his life - those of his Incarnation (article 3), Paschal mystery (articles 4 and 5) and glorification (articles 6 and 7).

It depends on the personal belief and their interpretation of the bible.

I do not prophetic- I lead by example. Always followed the action speaks louder than words philosophy in this lifetime.

Yet if you ask me, I will happily share my personal beliefs and enjoy you sharing the faith you believe IN. No matter if is different than my own. That is how I learn to be a better human.

I am so relieved to not be the Judge, that is your God's job, not mine. My God has his hands full with me and mine!

Yes certainly it is part my religious duty to spread at least one verse of holy qur'an and othe understanding of islamic teaching to as many people as possible everyday as it is spoken by Allah in my holy book..But I should remind that there is no force in Islam..I use this yahoo communication for giving explanation to others by answering questions which has relationship with islamic teaching or what my opinion is if it is based on islamic teaching. although its question for other religion.
I used also a discussion method for fulfilling my obligation to spread out islamic teaching.
