Liquid Crystal Display, and Plasma display. A liquid crystal display is the same sort as found on many watches and calculators; a small elecrostatic field re-orients molecules to allow or restrict the passage of light. A plasma is an ionized gas, such as is found in a neon sign. Plasma displays require more power than LCD displays, but are suitable for larger screens as it is difficult to make flawless LCD displays of large size.
