There is no need to do that. If you take your pup outside every time he has a meal, a treat, a drink or after playtime and before you go out, he won't need to go on paper.Take him out to the garden first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I tried the nappy square that you can use instead of newspaper, but mine just picked it up and ran around with it,so I did not bother, using the method I mentioned above I had him toilet trained in 3 weeks, after that he only ever went in the house once and that was firework night, so that was only to be expected as he was afraid to go outside.

start in a small room and keep the dog in there. Cover the whole floor in newspaper, grandually reducing the area of newspaper every day. When evere the dog poos on the fllor put him straight on the newspaper. You should find that the dog will prefer to do its business on the paper anyway. When hes old enough you can mover the paper outside to teach him to go outside when he needs the toilet

Never start with that paper training, start with taking the dog outside right from the beginning! First thing in the morning and 15 to 20 minutes after eating and since it is a young pup, then several times a day and certainly before bedtime. If an accident happens in the house, don't lose your temper because the dog then will fear that going to the bathroom is bad and will be afraid to ask you to take it outside. That would be a recipe for disaster. Praise the dog for going outdoors and be patient.

If I were you I would not want to start the paper training. I think it would be better to put your puppy in a crate and train your puppy to go out side to go potty. Small crate. Don't let your dog play in the house on the floor until you have her or he trained. You control the food and water so you know when the puppy needs to go. Never leave food and water down all the time. Reward the dog for peeing and pooping out side with treat's and put her back in her crate. No playing out side until you have her understanding that she is going out to pee and poop. If she messes in her crate, clean it up. DON'T punish her, it is your fault. You must take her out. Clean her up so she doesn't stink. Take her for walks. Talk to her. Tell her she is a good girl and you love her. Make her your friend. Don't get mad at her she wants to please you. But train her from a crate. Don't let her stink up your floors. HER pee and poop smells great to her. You will just confuse her. She will not understand if you get mad or try to stick her nose in it. Don't do that. Keep her clean. Praise her when she does everything right.
I hope, pray, you are not potty training that dog on your floors! I do hope you have more sense then to put papers down in front of a door for that dog to relieve him or herself on. Think of the consequences when you are away and the dog can not get out and he/she has to go bad and you forget and come in that door!
It is so much healthier for you and for your home and for your dog to crate train your pet. The house does not end up being a toilet for you dog and you do not end up having to feel like you need new carpets. If you want to get the pee pads to give the dog an idea where to pee take the pad outside and show the dog with the pee pad where the dog is suppose to pee and poop. If the dog has an accident in the crate it is confined to the crate. Great for you! What I did when I had a little problem with my puppy, I put her in a shorter crate, one she could not get into the position to pee or poop. A long flatter crate. This meant she had to wait until I let her out. She had to bark and tell me she had to go. I stayed vigilant. I did not forget about her. I took care of 6 puppies, 3 males and 2 adult females in heat..all in their own crates and we all did just fine. Everyone had their out door time and potty breaks. Play time in the porch and none peed or pooped on the floor. It can be done.

The best way is to catch them in the act of going and pick them up quickly and put them on the newspapers,or if it has an accident, sop up the wetness with some newspaper or pickup the poop up with the paper and lay it down wherever your going to lay the papers all the time and carry him to the papers when ever you think he's gotta go! And if he goes be sure to praise him!!As long as he smells someof his own urine he will know this is the place to go! Good Luck!!

dogs usually have to go a few minutes after eating. best thing to do is confine your dog to an area spread with newspaper after you've fed him. you have to be consistent in doing this.
after a few weeks, decrease the area covered with newspaper. soon enough, your dog will get used to the idea that he should do his business there. continue decreasing the area until only a very small area remain.

There are a bunch of things you should know about dog training but we are going to discuss what I feel are some the most important. Keep in mind that these are only some of the things you should know. Go here http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?u13g
1. Repetition is the number 1 principle of dog training. Dogs just like humans learn by doing things over and over in order to get better.
2. Dog Training can and should be fun for both you and your new pet.
3. Training sessions should always be short but sweet. I never work a dog more than 15 minutes in a session to keep from losing the dog's attention. You should train you dog at least once a day but never more than three formal sessions a day.
4. Your goal should be that each training session is just a little bit better than the last one. You need to always strive to make the training better, slowly. I mention this because quite often I see people who do daily training sessions but the dog never gets better and it is not the dogs fault.
5. Having patients is very important in dog training. Losing your temper does not work with a canine it simply makes things worse.
6. Exercise is very important in the training process to get rid of all the dogs nervous energy.
7. Taking your pet for walks is very important because it develops serotonin which gives your dog a feeling of well being.
8. Always be sure to give your dog a bunch of praise in your training. It is your dog's paycheck for doing a great job.
9. Never hit your dog. I have heard people say I never hit my dog instead I roll up a magazine and swat it. It's the same thing... hitting is hitting.
10. After each training session be sure to do something that your dog will enjoy. Take it for a walk, throw the ball or maybe even rub its belly. Just do something that makes the dog look forward to the next training session.
These are things that I teach my dog training students as well as my dog training clients. I hope these things will give you something to think about when training your dog. Spend some time training your dog daily and you will both reap the benefits.

I find that if you watch close enough you can tell they want to go and often are actually inclined to want to go outside instead of in the area they have to spend time. but if you wish to paper train first do as said above just put on paper when going or when finished eating etc, also although it is not what you would want to do if you clean up any accidents but leave just one pee and poo on the paper it indicates to the puppy that it was actually the correct place to go and they will go in the same spot again (but don't let it pile up they don't like that ) just leave one there. The same when want to go in particular spot in garden, clean all poos up except one in the area that you wan the dog to go in and they will or should learn to do it where you leave the poo.
