I think the most likely occurance will be a deadly superbug or virus that is airborn or in the oceans water that spreads quickly into all other waters we would then be destroyed quickly and easily as was the case of past plagues; ebola, etc. etc. We were lucky to catch them intime to get a cure but it may not happen someday, personally I think that is what happened to the dinosaurs and it could have occured because the climate was getting colder, maybe that certain virus needed the cold to survive, the conditions were good and it was able to thrive but it killed them as a result.

I think the best possibility for human extinction will be caused by humans. And the earth will continue as if nothing happened.

Continued burning of fossil fuels which leads to global warming and loss of land mass for the populations of people.
