I find it rude, I have stop until they stop looking at me. Why do people do this, specially if you are the only one with food. They look like hungry dogs.

I chew with my mouth close. I tend to be paranoid if I make lots of noise with my mouth. So Im always careful about that.

maybe because they are hungry. Depending upon the circumstances whether it would be rude. In a restaurant setting, if people who are not dining with you stare, they are being rude. Try putting your fork down and staring back. If persons are dining with you, then presumably they would be too occupied with their own meals to stare at you. If they are not eating as yet because their food has not been served, the restaurant has committed a faux pas and you are being rude by eating while they have nothing. What else do they have to do but stare across the table at you. In a setting with family and/or friends, it is rude to eat and not offer the other person food.

sounds to me like you are a little self conscious.alot of people get the feeling they are being stared at when they eat

I know it doesn't sound good but maybe when you eat you make it look so lekker and you make people hungry! For example, I don't like peanutbutter but my little sister loves her peanutbutter on bread with coffee and believe me when I watch her eat, I get this huge appetite. She makes it look so lekker!
