Actually it is quite easy as long as you have the correct products, patience, and assistance from family or a friend. NEVER do it alone. What you need is the initial bleach and a toner. If you have dark hair, make sure you get a bleach that can lift 10 levels. If you have a medium color of hair, you may only need bleach that lifts 7 levels of color. The best bleach to use is called V-Light from Matrix. You can usually find it on Ebay. With that, you will also need devloper and the toner which you can get that at any beauty supply store that is open to the public. Before you do your entire head, make certain to take a swatch of hair from underneath in the back (where the hair is darkest) and do a test to see how much lift you will actually get.
Normally, I would recommend seeing a stylist, but if you are determined enough to do it at home, then I would prefer you to be prepared with all the knowledge rather than end up with fried hair. If you have questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Step one: Call a salon in your area
Step two: Make appointment for consultation
Step three: Ask professional for his/her advice
Otherwise, attempting this yourself can (and often does) turn out a disaster. Doing this incorrectly can severely damage your hair causing breakage, produce colors only a circus clown could love, and cost you mega bucks to have a professional fix.
So, suck it up and make an appointment with a professional. You'll be happier and likely richer in the long run.

YOU HAVE TO GO TO A HAIR SALON OTHERWISE YOU WILL RUIN YOUR HAIR. CUZ YOU CAN NOT USE PURE BLEACH THEY MIX IT WITH (WHO KNOWS WHAT) OTHER STUFF AND IT WILL BE A DISASTER IF YOU DO IT. SAVE SOME MONEY AND GET IT PROFESSIONALLY DONE. PLEASE DON'T BE STUPID AND BLEACH IT YOURSELF!!!!
