They say oatmeal is suppose to satisfy and keep you feeling full and all that. They all say for you not to skip breakfast, so why is it when I do eat breakfast and oatmeal I am just raging hungry within hours. If i skip I am usually fine until about noon. Anyone have the same prob?

What kind of oatmeal are you eating? If you're using the individually-packaged stuff that comes in boxes of 12, it will not fill you up. My favorite kind (and they aren't paying me to say this, unfortunately) is McCann's Irish Oatmeal - if you get the quick-cooking variety (not the instant), you can do it in the microwave with milk in a few minutes - I can eat that stuff at 9 in the morning and not be hungry 'til 2.

If you boil water in the kettle for instant coffee, at the same time you prepare you cup, prepare a bowl with 1/2 cup of Quick Quaker Oats. When water is boiled just add enough to cover, no measuring necessary . You'll decide if you like it drier or not. Stir the oatmeal and by the time you get milk in your coffee, all is ready , sprinkle oats with raisins and a good sprinkle of cinnamon and breakfast is ready. I am not hungry til lunch.Add a couple of ounces of juice while you take your vitamin or not. Have a great day. It is said that in 1900 the average person had five lbs. of sugar over a year period... now that has escalated to 156 lbs. a year per person, disgusting isn't it?

The same thing happens to me. I think it's due to the carbs in oatmeal. I find that if I have an egg (protein) for breakfast, I'll last fuller longer. I always feel like I eat more through out the day when I start my day with oatmeal. Try starting your day off with some protein, and see if you notice a difference. Best of luck to you!

I TOTALLY have the same problem! I just try to eat an oatmeal breakfast to boost my metabolism, (even though I am TOTALLY NOT a breakfast person!!) , but I am soooo not satisfied for long either! If I skip, I am fine till like 2pm. I don't get it? Soooooo bad for you metabolism to skip, though, so what do ya do? I with ya girl....

Well your supposed to be hungry if you dont eat you do not get the protein to live healthy and loose unused weight. Eating in the morning kickstarts your metabolism and there is nothing wrong with being hungry. Just try to eat fruit or healthy snacks instead of fatty foods. Starving yourself is not the answer to a diet. Exercise and proper nutrition is the only true answer.

Me too! But eating breakfast is good cos it kick starts your metabloism - which is WHY you feel hungry so soon. its a good sign that your body is burning off your food and working properly. the reason most people who skip breakfast are over weight is cos their metabolisms slow down and then when they do eat at lunch or whenever their bodies dont burn it off at all cos their metabolisms are slow and sluggish.

Eat some fruit or a healthy snack when you get hungry mid morn, but dont skip breakfast!!!

You're dehydrated. Our bodies trick us into thinking were hungry so that it can get some water out the meal you eat because your bodies knows that you don't drink enough water. You should drink some water when you feel hungry. If you're still hungry in 30 minutes, then eat.
