To live in the direct presence of God and share full communion with Him. To see His glory, hear His voice. The vision of God through the eyes of faith is excellent, how much more so will it be when we can really see.

I think that when we are in the presence of God we won't even notice the mansions.

I believe the "pearly gates, streets of gold, etc." are man made creations. When we die and go to heaven, what good are tangible treasures? How do precious metals relate to being in the presence of God? When we enter the kingdom of heaven, the face of God is all we will seek. At least that's what I believe. If it is near impossible for a rich man to enter into heaven, why then do people seek monetary gain in heaven? What exactly are they going to buy there? To kiss the face of Jesus and touch the face of God is what is there for us. I will fight the good fight when we are called in the rapture and armaggedon is upon us. Those who dream of golden streets can have their gold. My treasure is knowing where I'll be then.

What's so wonderful about being in the presence of God? Are you not in the presence of God now? Isn't God everywhere? Don't Christians claim to have personal relationships with God?
If heaven is about the presence of God how is that different than now? Please click the "add details" button and give me a clue.

Hmmm...
I desire neither one.
I would continue to live and strive for peace,
I would never need a promised house or meeting with God to do good things.
As far a meeting the maker...
I have to ask how do you expect a heaven when you haven't met God already?
I need nothing, except what is provided to me through whatever means are acceptable.
I apologise, I am not christain.
I do understand your desire for heaven, but I truly believe one must live as though he does not expect it.
It not due to us, God does not owe us.
Bravo, on the question...

Mercy Me sings this song named... I Can Only Imagine and when I think of the first thing I wanna see I think of this song :
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face
Is before me
I can only imagine
I wanna hang out with the big guy for a while I can see the rest later, it is for eternity ya know ;-)

I don't think we get a choice. I think we see God way before we'll ever see those pearly gates, if ever!
