In a troubling development that may signify a new vulnerability for U.S. troops, the Black Hawk helicopter that crashed northeast of Baghdad Saturday appears to have been brought down by a shoulder-fired surface-to-air missile, a senior military official tells ABC News.

Russian-made surface-to-air missiles are plentiful in Iraq but have only rarely succeeded in taking down American aircraft. U.S. helicopters are equipped with countermeasures designed to protect them from such missiles. But in this case it didn't work.

You can never win a war without the will of the people. We are in their land, and we don't belong there. They don't want us there, they just want our money.
PS they want their water and power back on too. Saddam wasn't so bad after they saw what the world police had to offer. In a couple of years, we have killed more of their brothers, sisters , mothers , babies, and sons than Saddam has in all his years there put together.
We are making more terrorists everyday. That culture loves REVENGE. If it take 100 years, they are gonna collect for what we did to their ancestors. Remember, they did nothing to us. Saddam was the enemy, not the people. Now its the people.

Maybe because America killed over 3/4 million people, bombed hospitals and schools ..You see bombs and rockets don't pick and choose who they kill or destroy. Also America is using radio active material in there heavy weapons and bombs. The death will continue for centuries like in Japan after WW2. I got friends who were there and let them tell you about what became of there lives. I don't know how old most of you are but Till you have the honor of being under fire and see the facts as they really are you will never believe the bullshit given to the people of any government about the justification of war

The answer is very simple. There's no way that people of any nation will ever love the invaders of their country. I'm sure they would rather have a brutal dictator ruling over them than a foreign country subjugating them. And to put your question the other way around, would the Americans love it, if a more powerful nation invaded the U.S.A. in order to "liberate" it?. I'm sure that all Americans would rather have an incompetent dictator-like president than to have foreign invaders stepping on American soil.

They did it because they see Americans as an occupying force, bent on destroying the Iraqi people, and as you stated, they've got easy access to rocket systems.
