i had my first baby 8 months ago and i put on alot of weight and i am having trouble loosing it.i don't have much support my partner is hopeless he worries about everyone else but me. I am angry and frustrated with myself all the time i am determined to lose this weight i would like to do this without my partner knowing so i can regain my confidence but where do i start can anyone help me?????????????

To start, it is perfectly normal to gain weight and retain some after a pregnancy, and it is perfectly normal to be anxious about losing the extra weight. The last thing you want to do is jump on to some fad diet. And if you are breastfeeding, you might not want to work your body too hard.

Without knowing your original weight, your weight in pregnancy, and your current weight, it is impossible to really gauge your situation. But it sounds like you only are looking to lose a moderate amount, like 10 to 20 lbs.

First, stop being angry and frustrated at yourself. Focus more on how happy you are that you are taking positive steps to remedy a problem that bothers you. It's too easy to take out our frustration on ourselves -- its more effective to reward yourself for taking a proactive stance. Go out and buy yourself new gym clothes and new sneakers to exercise in. Treating yourself to those things will only help motivate you even more.

Second, look for outside support. If your husband isn't providing support now, he probably won't -- so why waste the time barking up that tree? Look into joining a group weight loss program -- many corporations, community groups, etc. have Weight Watchers groups and other programs full of individuals with an outlook like yourself. Oftentimes, the support and motivation that others provide is just what we need to clear that hurdle.

Plus, groups like Weight Watchers focus more on long-term solutions that make you more aware of what, when, and how you eat, helping you to change patterns of behavior; that prevents the "rebound" weight gain you see in designer diets.

Third, get back that confidence. Start in little ways: appreciate the things you do every day, and learn to take pride in them and develop confidence in them. Maybe your husband doesn't care that you vacuum, dust, cook dinner, change diapers, and balance the checkbook, but you should, and you should take confidence from your ability to do all that stuff.

Love yourself and don't allow your body perception to get you frustrated. We are all confident in different ways. I may be a 2nd year medical student, but I'll be damned if I can keep a clean house, let alone tend to a fragile infant.

If you see your "weight issue" in the broader context of all of the wonderful qualities you already have, you will be that much more confident and that much more able to get your goal done.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic.

- avoid junk food, no oily, no spicy,, nothing from vendors & hawkers
- atleast drink 8-10 glass water
- to burn your calories{reduce your weight} you should do exercise a lot of exercise but if having a busy schedule
here r some tips:
* use stairs instead of using lifts or electronic stairs
* prefer walking than a vehicle while going nearby
* doing dusting & cleaning of your house yourself
* dance a lot in outings & parties
................................. these are for persons having a busy life routine but if you can spend a little time for jogging or the exercise suggested by any expert will be good for you

- ask your doctor to give you a balanced diet plan
- if you are doing 'sedentary work' then i'm having a diet plan for you :

Cereals - 460gm
Pulses - 40gm
Green Leafy Vegetables - 40gm
Other Vegetables - 60gm
Roots & Tubers - 50gm
Fruits - 30gm
Milk - 150gm
Fat & Oil - 40gm
Sugar & Jaggery - 30gm
Water - according to need, 8-10 glasses

even then consult your doctor maybe your doctor will give you another balanced diet chart

I started with pilates. A 20 minute version and worked up to the full advanced level. It took a long time but it's a good workout. You can do it at home when you're there alone and no one even has to know. I have the windsor series. All you need is the dvd and a pilates mat... mine was $10. Money very well spent. Stress can result in added weight being put on! Destress, and do some very systematic exercise-diet combination, in consultation with some experts in the field!
