even more so with peanut butter and jelly? or worse mayonnaise and mustard? I am talking about in the jar, not on a sandwich. I realize they eventually get mixed together, but when they are in the jar its a different story.

This is a little neurotic.......but being neurotic I must agree that it annoys me. The proper way to use butter is (using a clean knife) to take a little from the dish and place it on your side plate or bread plate. Then butter your bread or roll etc. from your side plate and not the serving dish thereby being considerate to the next user.
As for peanut butter and jelly, there should be different utensils for each.

The toast crumbs really irritate me. When I was younger, my siblings and I always referred to them as subatomic toasticles (not sure where that came from, but the name has stuck).

I think that all condiments and foods should only be mixed when one wants mixed food. Otherwise keep those pesky bits and pieces separate............

IT REALLY DOESN'T BOTHER ME THAT MUCH BECAUSE IT'S JUST ME AND MY HUSBAND'S HOME. I SUPPOSE IF THIS WAS A "FRAT HOUSE" OR A "HOUSE-MATE" SITUATION, I MIGHT BE A LITTLE GROSSED-OUT!!!
