Systems mentioned in Islam provide opportunities to genuinely poor to overcome problems, survive and live with dignity plus get chance to rehabilitate them selves.

Un fortunately and very staidly I have to mention that right now no Country has true Islamic systems. So called modern and broad vision tiny and supper powers doing there best to discourage and deviate from true Islamic systems.

1400 years back there was system of Unemployment benefit as well,
I will give just one example:
Second Caliph Umar Farooq (May God please with Him), saw an old man begging on streets. He asked his advisors who is that old man and why he is begging.
Advisor replied , Sir he is an old JEW and now he can not work any more and he has no other means to earn so he is begging.
Caliph Umar became angry and immediately ordered to provide food and some earnings to that old Jew. He further said when he was young he paying prescribed taxes and when he is not capable to earn it sates responsibility to provide him dignified bread, no matter who is he.

Prophet said in His last sermon:
O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

"The best of alms is that, which the right hand gives and the left hand knows not of." (Bukhari)

"The perfect Muslim is not a perfect Muslim, who eats till he is full and leaves his neighbors hungry." (Ibn Abbas: Baihaqi)

"Do you know what is better than charity and fasting and prayer? It is keeping peace and good relations between people, as quarrels and bad feelings destroy mankind." (Muslims & Bukhari)

It is also the fact that the element of good is more in the creation than the element of evil. We all see that there are more people who are healthy than those who are sick. There are more that eat well then those who starve. There are more that live decent life then those who commit crimes. Goodness is the rule and evil is the exception. Virtue is the norm and sin is the aberration. Generally trees bear fruits, the flowers bloom, the winds move smoothly. .

This is a temporary world and every thing here has a time limit. When its times comes it will die, come to an end and finish. Neither the good things of this world are forever, nor the bad things eternal. We are here for a short time and we are being tested. Those who will pass this test they will find an eternal world that is perfect and permanent. Those who will fail this test they shall see the evil consequences of their sins and corruption.

How many times it happens that we are not careful and still we reach safely to our destinations. The way people drive in some cities, it is a miracle that more accidents do not happen and more people do not suffer. Allah says: (Allah) Most Gracious! 2- It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 3- He has created man: 4- He has taught him speech (and Intelligence). 5- The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 6- And the herbs and the trees both (alike) bow in adoration. 7- And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 8- In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 9- So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 10- It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures. (al-Rahman 55:1-10)

Abu Yahya Suhaib bin Sinan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him".

I do not know exactly which religion follower christianity or islam has more homeless and poor because I have no statistical data about that. But theoritically I think christianity has more homeless and poor because :
1)Islam folowers should pay zakat at least 2.5% of their annual weath and 10% of their current monthly income for the poors and orphans besides the ordinary income taxes
2)Islam followers are suggested to pay sedekah or donation or alms more than the said above amount
3)the capable sons and daughters should give priority financial assistance to their parents and the poor of their relatives
4)Islam followers should give help to the poor neighbours who have no enough foods
5)Islam followers in line with the holy qur'an is better to give assistance than receiving assistance
6)Allah will give rewards 10 up to 700 times of the value of something that has been given to the poor
7)islam followers should ashame if they become as beggars
.Mostly poor people is made by their laziness and have no skill for earning a living and its environment are fallow so its soil is difficult to be cultivated. and no industry for absorbing employ-
ment.

You must mean 'Christianity or Islam?'

Muslim--describes a follower of Islam.

To answer your question--both. However, it is difficult to compare apples to oranges. How can one person know for sure beyond the shadow of a doubt that Christianity helped the poor XYZ times more than Islam and vice versa?

Through Zakat, in Islam for example, it is a requirement.

I hope this answers your question.

the teachings of christians and muslims are very close because they are from God. but the christians and even the jews changed the laws and the belief about God.
while christians claim that no work is accepted, then that contradict their teachings ,so their actions are done by their desires, by the good people or just to show off.
But for muslims, work and actions are done to please God first and because some of them are obligatory. if they are for show off then they are not accepted. if just to do good without the intention to please God then it will be not accepted. only the dees which are done by the intention to please God are accepted.
you give when you are in need is the best of deeds.
you give without show off is the best of deeds.
you give without waiting for a favor or interest from somebody is the best .....

in Islam we pay 2.5% of the money that we don't use during one year period. that way there will be no poor people.
I tell christians < God is not the author of confusion > and stop blaiming Islam because you are ignorant about it.

Islam. You are required to give zakat which is a percentage out of your income to the poor (alms one of the 5 pillars of Islam). And the month of Ramadan where you fast makes you feel how the poor feel and you are ver giving during that month. I don't really recognize anything in Christianity which requires you to do anything for the poor.

Let history speak for itself. Compare the amount of work done by christian organizations to that of Muslims.
Also compare how many has the religion made poor or homeless or orphans . . . . .
