Yes I do care. But having said that...
Sometimes I am so "overwhlemed" by needs around me I don't know how to best help with my seemingly small surplus and honestly don't give iwhen I feel like this. It is so true the more we have the less we feel the need of the poor. Really you have to have been poor to know what it is like to be without. I lived on the streets once. I KNOW. And believe it or not I found more charity amoung poor people than among most rich people.
Yes, I do care... but sometimes I just don't know how to make a difference.....

Absolutely. There but for the grace of God go I. Don't take your blessings for granted. Everyone was not born or raised with advantages but rather have endured disadvantages from birth. I see the poor as people who need society's help to get into position to succeed. That could mean legislation (like raising minimum raise) or economic policy (like regulating inflation and housing increases to coincide with wages) or direct assistance, job training or just a kind word or helping hand.

We are all our Brother's Keepers. Caring about the poor in our society is being obedient to God's instructions.

Most importantly, if you were in that situation, think how you would wish someone to treat you.

In most cases, yes. Especially the children.
I know a guy who was the vice-president of a big company in New York City. (he was my sister's former neighbor). He decided the pressure was too much & gave up everything. He quit his job, left his wife (no kids) & now lives in the streets of NYC. He said he makes enough money to live by begging & he has none of the pressures of the family & job.
His story made me think twice before I "donate" money to homeless individuals.
However, I do give food, bedding and money to our local homeless shelter.

Honestly saying - not much for poor in terms financially

But honestly it is the fact that I feel that the one who is not having values or principles or ethics or health or wisdom is the real poor and I try myself in various ways to help them rich in 'real terms'

If a person is not having values and fortune then they will not able to even enjoy the money they have - I feel so and I indulge myself in enchancing the fortune through divine wisdom for myself and for others

Yes I do. As a matter of fact, I deal with them almost on a daily basis on my job. To God be the Glory, I try to go out of my way to do what I can to help them. Not all want to me helped but for the ones that do, I do my best. I say to God be the Glory because I know that it is Him who has given me this frame of mind and I don't take it for granted. Nothing is anymore rewarding than someone whom you have helped let you know that what you did, not only to they appreciate it but they are better because of it. No I don't do what I do for the glory because many don't even know my name or me. But God knows and that is what matters. May God BLess U.

i volunteer my times and services i think poor people in my book are people who have no home, barely have food and have children. they are basically helpless in society.

i dont feel bad for the lazy people who sit around buying things they cannot afford and cry about their credit card bill.

Yes, but we who live in modern societies, do not know what poverty is. Poverty is no housing or at best a shack, no food, no running water, no sanitazion, nohope. Donate money to Heifer International. Heifer International is one of the best charities in the world. They provide heifers, pigs, chickens, goats to the world's poorest.
