This is how chemical straightening works:
The solution is applied, which swells the hair and breaks the strong disulfide bonds in the protein of the hair. The hair is now limp and fragile. Then the neutralizer is applied, which shrinks the hair back to it's normal state and repairs the disulfide bonds in the new straight pattern. Color doesn't touch these bonds, it only lifts the cuticle and deposits the color into the strand. Bleach lifts the cuticle and corrodes the existing color molecules. Both processes do this without disturbing the bonds in the hair, so it won't cause your hair to become curly again. The only way you can cause the hair to recurl is if you perm it. Your hair may be damaged, and probably has a different porosity than it did before it was straightened, so it may accept the color differently, so please have it done professionally, to avoid ending up with blotchy color or color that is way too dark and/or fades quickly.

As long as your hair was straightened correctly and professionally it will still be straight, and the chemicals will dry your hair but all you need to do is use a good conditioner and leave it on for 3-5 mintues and your hair will be fine.

It will still be straight. The chemicals used for coloring are totally different from the ones used to straighten or curl hair.

Too much chemicals will just damage your hair. If you've done rebonding or relaxing to your hair wait for some time before introducing another substance to your hair. It will make your dry straightened hair, drier! Believe me. My officemate did the same thing...had her hair relaxed then have it colored after a month or so....her hair became so dry and tangled so she had it cut and she's now sporting a short hair....money wasted!!!
You can try cellophane...its a hair treatment and puts a little color too :)

Hi Shayna!!!
If you had you hair straight chemically, you should wait to color your hair. The to processes together in a short amount of time, will burn/damage your hair very bad.
Try not to blow/dry, use magnetics rolls and go under the hair drier instead, make sure always to let dry very well!!!
After it is dry, comb it or brush it, and rap it. This will avoid a lot of split ends!!
GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS YOU & HAPPY LIFE

im pretty sure it doesnt stay perfectly straight. plus all those chemicals in your hair really damage it and it breaks off. if u get chemically straightened hair you shouldnt dye it for at least 8-10 months.

You should be just fine. Just remember that when doing so many chemical services to your hair within a couple months there is going to be damage. I suggest that you get salon products if you do not have them already. Also get a good leave in conditioner.
Good luck you will be fine.

Salons dont advice strainghtened hair and to be dyed after. They said it will make your hair elastic and more prone to breakage. If you actually color dyed it they will not repeat to straighten your hair again. It will not revert to its natural curl but it will make your hair dry and frizzy.

I did it too, wait for 2 weeks and color my hair with permanent hair color. It's still straight, without grays, silky and shiny. I used Paul Mitchell's professional hair color
