3. The publisher of Lost in the Jungle receives $12.60 from each copy sold. The remaining portion of the $15 selling price goes to the author. What royalty rate does the author earn?
$12.60/100 x $15/b= $12.60/1500
b=0.0084= 84%

4. The creator of a new game receives a royalty of 8% of the selling price of each game sold. The company that produces the game receives the remaining amount. If the company receives $10.10 per game, what is the selling price of the game?
8%/100 x $10.10/b= 1000/8
b= 125

5. A radio that originally sold for $59.85 was discounted 15% in April. In May, the sale price was discounted 25%. What is the new sale sale price in May? 15/100= x/59.85 25/100..

Answer 1

1) Original price = $135.00
If the video game system is discounted by 24%,
then it is sold for 76% of it's original price.

Just multiply $135 * .76 = $102.60
Net price = $102.60


2) .22x = $2.64
Divide both sides by .22
x = $2.64 /.22 = $12.00

Let's quickly check our answer:
If the album sold for $12 and the royalty was 22% of that:
$12 * .22 = $2.64


3) $15 - $12.60 = $2.40
$2.40 / $15.00 = 16% (received by the author).


4) $10.10 / x = 92%
Solve for x:
92x = $10.10
x = $10.97826086956521739130434782... or $10.98
Selling price of game = $10.98
