I have been asked to stand up next to my son as his "Bestwoman". His Dad passed away and he and I are best buds. I don't drink, won't consider a stripper but do not have a clue what to plan that will be not only enjoyable but memorable as well. Bridal shower I have no trouble with, but a bachelor party? I need some really cool ideas for food, fun, and entertainment. Please only serious people with good ideas reply. I would like to know about decorations, if any, location, time, day I just don't know. Thanks for the input

My son and I are close. I am very close with my soon to be daughter-in-law. She thinks it's cool and trusts me to make it a good night/day/event for him. The classic get drunkslobberoverthestripper is unimaginable, not creative and he and his friends have their times when they do their "thing" about the "guy" stuff. My son had given me a prrvelige and bestowed on me an honor by making this request. You rednecks out there......It's the 21st century and why the heck can't I? Some traditions need to be shaken up and changed. Life is too short for humdrum boring everybody does it this way. We are cool with the changes.........open up your minds to the possibilities people. I appreciate some of your answers. They are creative, and very open minded and accepting which is really cool. I will wait for more. Thanks

Remember he ASKED me. I know his likes, dislikes etc. Was looking for ideas, not criticism, put downs, or personal psyco analysis. Ideas. Really good ideas.

That is great! How nice to be so close to your son! (Don't listen to those who say it is not appropriate! Your son obviously wants you in that role. It is not controlling!)

I would suggest thinking about what your son likes to do in his life. Interests and hobbies. Camping, golfing, skiing, bowling? Plan a day or a trip around these activities.

Or is he a baseball/football/hockey fan? Plan to get a group together for a game. If that is not feasible, set up a party on a big game night. have lots of food (nachos, chili, etc), and lots of beer!

How about a poker night? Or poker tournament?

Sounds like fun! Enjoy!

There are lots of things you can do. If you don't want to plan an outing (bowling, go to a local sports game, laser tag, etc) you could always plan a poker party. I put a link to plum party in the sources - they have some great stuff and not all of it is expensive - that might give you some ideas. I'd hook up the gaming system (PlayStation/Nintendo) and rent some games they'd like but don't have. People could go in and out of the card game to play video games. Order pizza and call it a party. Guys don't need a lot of decorations and the like - you actually got out much easier than planning a bridal shower! Get some coolers and cans of soda, throw out the chips and dips and let the guys be guys! Have fun with this one - make it the best guys hang-out that boy has ever had!

I think it is wonder full, that your son asked his mother to be "Best women", he is going to make a terrific husband, but mom planning the bachelor party?? Too awkward, even if the guys don't have a stripper, (which I think is crass too), they need to crack silly guy jokes, could a friend or male relative plan this part?? No matter how close you are, moms and bachelor parties don't mix, maybe you could ask the bride, if you could go to the ladies last night out instead, and you will get a chance to bond with your soon to be daughter in law

I own a country club and we host bachelor parties at the club. They typically involve golf and food and plenty of alcohol. We also serve alcohol on the golf course while they are playing. Every now and again, these parties hire a stripper or belly dancer, but more often than not they don't.

Dinner and...

comedy club, wall climbing, laser tag, cosmic bowling, do you have a Jillians near by? (eat, drink, play games, bowl, dance..everything so everyone will have all kinda stuff to do), how about one of those indoor go cart centers...the real karts, not the cheezy ones at recreation centers, the karts that you have to dress in race gear to drive and usually the track is two story, we have one in Indy on the north side, these are fun.

Well -- it looks like the traditional stag party with the liquor and cheesy porno won't be happening for this guy. I always thought those parties were over rate-- though I have never been to one.

Why don't you ask your son what he would like to do?

He's not going to really care what the activity is, as long as it's with friends and is memorable.

Depending on his interests:
1) Fishing trip followed up by a BBQ
2) Golf
3) etc..

What age, time of year, how conservative are his friends and you, for that matter? All things to add to your post for better responses.

You need to stay away from the bachelor party...let his friends make arrangements or take him out ---it's way too inappropriate.
