Muslims have broad, airy and grandeur-like architecture of Mosques, Christians have spiritual sharp turrets pointed towards the sky kind of grandiose Churches, Hindus have narrow, unventilated, 'enclosed' and colorful Temple structures.
Does religious architecture reflect the character of its followers?

Kindly educate.

I'm know more about Western architecture so I'll stick to my field of 'expertise' here

In catholic and protestant churhes, the steeple represents man's striving to reach God.
In orthodox churches, the 'onion' at the top of the tower represents God coming down to be with the people.

So absolutely your view on God, or Gods, or whatever other higher beings you may believe in affects the architecture of the buildings established for worship. And since one's view on God has a direct impact on one's priorities, I would say that there is a reflection of the follower's characteristics in religous architecture.

I would be careful about drawing too many sweeping generalizations about a society based on its churches however.

Pretty nifty observation though StarryEyes

The Catholic Church is the work of Divine Providence, achieved through the prophecies of the prophets, through the Incarnation and the teaching of Christ, through the journeys of the Apostles, through the suffering, the crosses, the blood and the death of the martyrs, through the admirable lives of the saints. When, then, we see so much help on God's part, so much progress and so much fruit, shall we hesitate to bury ourselves in the bosom of that Church? For starting from the Apostolic Chair down through successions of bishops, even unto the open confession of all mankind, it has possessed the crown of teaching authority." - St. Augustine of Hippo ("The Advantage of Believing" 4th century A.D.)
The papacy is the oldest Intuition in the world .- How could it survived without the grace of God & the guidance of the Holy Spirit.........The Holy Spirtit did not convert to Islam in 610AD or Lutheranism in 1517AD or Calvinism in 1540s A D

I think in a way they can, but not always. For example, a church I went to for a long time was held in a gym. My current church is in an old movie theater. Do I worship movies or sports? Nope, they are both Evangelical Christian churches. But I do really like movies.

On the other hand, I think the fact we have elaborate spaces in many cases for worship, does show that religion plays a large part in a lot of human culture. Thats a great question, I am so starring it lol!

you have a good point. Yes I think that faith is reflected in the architecture. One would have to look at others as well to get a feeling for it. unfortunately we cant look at the sites older than Christianity in most of Europe because they were desecrated by Christians of the time in an effort to convert pagans to Christianity

Freud was undoubtedly amused by both minarets and church steeples, as well as the scale designed to make you, the humble little worshiper, feel humble and childlike before the Big Sky Daddy.
