a child up for adoption. And that they have to try to find the biol. father before they can adopt the child out. They said all the mother said, was the fathers name so they send out letters to everyone in the area that the mother said. My brother has the same name as on the paper(he says theres no way it's his kid, deffinately not!!) but my thing is my father had the same name also and he died 2 years ago, and maybe it could be his( i didn't know his business like that). The child was born in 2003 in pittsburg, pa. We live a little away from there, and my dad traveled everyday. Is there a way i can find out if he would be the father??? I would want the child if that was the case. My husband and i have been trying for 3 years now 2 miscarragies.
Thanks so much sorry so long!!

a dna test and responding to who sent the letter is all you can do. don't get your hopes up too much. for one PA has really messed up adoption laws. they are the worst in this country. if this letter is going out more than likely this child is already placed with a family, and they are just tying up loose ends before they can finalize. you will need to probably prove yourself able to adopt this child, they same way the prospective adoptive parents already have done. they may have been in your shoes, waiting and trying for years, and all of a sudden someone stepping out of the corner will be very frightening and intimidating. try to put yourself in their shoes before making any decisions. normally once these letters, or something in the papers go out, that means there is a family already that has bonded with this child and wishes to adopt them. you may be setting up for a long court battle. your best bet is going to have your brother submit a dna test. that way if he should be the father, it will be proven. if he is related to the child, then probably your father's. you need to contact the person who sent the letter, and find out all of the facts involved before making any decision or getting your hopes up. best to you.

Who sent him this letter.?

If the mother does not know who the father of her child is and they are wanting to make sure who the father is before they adopt the child then a DNA a test would have to be done on ever man that the lady thinks is the father.

If your father is passed and you want to find out if the child is his the most you can do is a DNA test yourself with the child to see if you are related to that child. Proving your father is the father of the child would be close to impossible

If a lawyer sent this letter out randomly to men in that area that just have the same name as the woman said then I find that VERY unethical of them.

In most cases the mother is just required to put an add in the local paper stating what she is planning on doing and if the father wants to come forward then they can. I have never heard of having to send out letters.

How old is this child.? You say you want to adopt it if it related to you but would you still want to if this child was in 1, 2 or 3 years old and has been with the same family since birth and only know them as mommy and daddy. Would you want to do that to him/her?

Good Luck.

Have him contact the people on the letter, even if you weren't interested, it would help them if each of the men with that name were eliminated. They may want it anyway, but your brother should ask for a DNA test, NOT A BLOOD TYPE TEST. Make sure that the lab knows that you think the child could be your sibling. The test will come back and if the baby is your sibling or your nephew, the lab results will tell you. Be open and honest with the mom and the agency and you should be able to present a good case for raising the child.
Hope this helps

Ya, these guys are right. Find some way to find out. just make a few phone calls and see. But just to let you know, if he is (or) was the father, might not make any easier for you to adopt the child.
Please keep that in mind when you go threw all this OK.

good Luck in this.

If the birthmom is cooperative you could give a picture to the social worker handling the divorce and ask her if your Dad is the man she was with. Also, ask her for an approximate age of the man, that will easily determine if it was your Dad or not. Then you can go from there. Best of luck to you, I hope it works out well for you, however you want that to look.

DNA testing can tell whether you are linked to the child, but since you and your brother both got DNA from your father, your brother will likely have to be tested to make sure it's not his.

They can do a DNA test on your brother to rule him out, but at the same time, because it could be your fathers, they could tell by your brothers DNA.

A blood test will do the trick. It’s a little expensive but they can tell if the child is your fathers. They will use your blood I think. Good Luck...
