I am older now. Things you do when you are 20 you dont do when you are 30

Sweetie, It doesn't matter what age or what color you are. Highlights look good on any race no matter how old you are. Especially if their done right. Black people are not the only people that are born with dark hair. A lot of women dye their hair a lighter color, but you would never know it. Being 30 is not old, and yes we don't do some of the things we did at 20, but in this case with the hair thing it's not that big of a deal. Childish stuff you did when you were 20 would fit into that category. When it comes to beauty then that's something different. If you are thinking of getting highlights go ahead and get them. By the way I'm a black woman, and I love the way highlights look.

Any haircolor can get highlights. The girls you were seeing with highlights that didn't look good were going with a color that was much too light for their naturally dark hair. I have black (the color, not African-American) hair naturally and have found that if I go much lighter than a medium brown with highlights then the color looks really fake. Anyone can wear highlights, it's just a matter of finding the most flattering shade and style of highlight.

I see a lot of black girls get red highlights, which I think looks really neat on dark hair. If you have lighter brown hair, you might want to use a slightly lighter shade of brown than you have for highlights, but not full blonde.

I think you should but than try using the right color. I have seen some girls use really light colors which I think doesn't look nice, go for something nice and not dramatic or even better try low lights.

If a Black girl wants highlights, and she can afford to have someone good do her hair so her hair doesn't turn orange or get fried, then the Black girl should have highlights!

Of course you should. If you liked them before, you can do it again. I would say to go one shade lighter than your natural color. If you like them, go for it!

I think it looks good with or without highlights. I'm crazy about black girls in general tho, lol.

Personally I don't like it when people do that. I think you should be proud of the dark hair you were born with. Also, if you go overboard, they just look weird. I would recommend not doing it, but if you like it go for it! It's all about what you want.
