No, they cannot search your apartment without a warrant. This is invasion of property. Sometimes this is a bad thing, a sometimes a good thing (depends on who you are and the circumstances).

If they see (or smell) contraband, weapons, domestic abuse, etc or if they see someone who matches a warrant, or if they hear something, or any number of other condtions and they enter the property they can use probable cause as an excuse to search. also, if the residents at the address being answered are felons or on parole, probabtion, yes they can search. being a renter doesnt matter one way or the other. it's the circumsances they find when they knock on the door.

No they can not without probable/reasonable cause (such as smell of weed, your behavior, seeing an intoxicated minor...). As a renter you have alot of rights. Your landlord can not even enter your apt without prior notice or your permission (except in emergency situations); it is criminal trespass. Reread your lease closely, and look up renter's rights on your states DA's website. Call your local police dept internal affairs or public relations division. Threaten to call the media next.

Should learn your amendments they payoff quite abit if you do!!

U.S. Constitution: Fourth Amendment
Fourth Amendment - Search and Seizure

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

If they dont have a probable cause then they cant search you or your belongings

Yes if they say "can we come in?" and you say "well yes" then yes they will search and you have the right to say no!!! If a cop stops you in a car and for some reason ask to search you car you have the right to say no. If you were not charged with anything don't worry about it.

Yes, it is called probable cause. When you open your door to the police and then enter, you are opening the door for them to search the whole premises if they see something (or even claim to see something) that leads them to believe something illegal is going on.

Only with your consent. Without one whatever they find is
admissible in court and investigations.
