You'll want a tough dog that will be able to hold its own if it gets into a fight with a boar. A dog with a good nose is another good trait to have. I have a German Shorthaired Pointer and they are excellent and versatile hunting dogs. While they can be used for boar, it would probably be best to use some of the more popular boar hunting dogs which are:

Ridgebacks
Pit Bulls
Deerhounds
Catahoulas
American Bull Dogs

Try looking into those and pick which you like best.

I know of a guy who uses Pits, I personally do not like the dogs but they will not let go. Wild Boar can be very dangerous. the Ridgeback is a great dog too. You also need to factor in what kind of environment the dog will be in the rest of the time.

If you have small children a Pit may not be a good choice, You will not be using the dogs for hunting all the time. If you do not have the time to work them, you need a dog that will be o.k. with occasional workouts and attention.

If you want dead boars then YOU are going to have to do the job. That said you aren't going to find ONE working breeder who's going to sell ANYONE least of all some novice that many untrained and unstarted pups. A single wild boar is fully capable of killing a dog and where there is one there are several others in the tree line you don't see. "I don't wanna just shoot them anymore because there was such a bug infestation last year from all the dead pigs out there on the field which ruined almost all my garden." You're a shitty hunter, you don't SHOOT an animal even a nuisance one and leave it to rot. Your ruined garden is your own damn fault. Depending on where you live see if there is a hog removal service in the area. Much cheaper than your horrible idea.

While stationed in India, my dad hunted wild boar with pitbulls. He said the most of the pitbulls never had a chance. Try with a spear if you really want to hunt. That would be cool to see..lol

pit bulls are probably the best, the little ones, Shepperd Air dale cross dogs are great also why i say that is they will run in hang on then you can catch the hog or boar alive just get it's back feet off the ground take a rope and tie them together, try that some time.

You need a tough dog for wild boar, if you get a weak dog the boar will shread it to bits, i would recommend a big pitbull, mean too. You need a big gun too, like an elephant gun(375) to kill one, dont shoot the forehead, it has a big boney plate there that almost nothing can penetrate, that'll just piss it off, shoot the side of the head, thats you're best shot.

The Chihuahua. They are not afraid of anything and while the wild boar is laughing you plug him. LOL!
