Mainly because you don't realize that war is sometimes the only way to communicate to someone else. If someone is trying to stab you, do you sit there and be docile and limp, or do you fight back? Don't feed me this line of bull about how that's not the same thin because it is. When pearl harbor was bombed, were we supposed to just sit around and do nothing? It doesn't matter if that was the past, because we had pearl harbor all over again at 9/11. Yet there are still people like you who think that "love not war" will fix everything. It's a nice thought, but I'd rather pick up my gun and fight, than willingly let somebody kill me. You have dreams of a Utopian society where there is no war, but that's all it will ever amount to...is dreams.

First of all, you must try to bear in mind that it is not inherently weak to be opposed to war ; and cowardly is another issue.

As a Veteran, I hate war. However, as an American, I also know that there are forces in the world that plan vigorously for our destruction. I am NOT referring to the President and V-P, either. I'll leave that to mindless Bush haters.
Therefore, you must draw a distinction between a war against real enemies and war of imperialism. For instance, the war we are presently engaged in against islamofascist muslims will be ongoing for a very long time; whether we are fighting them in the Middle East or in your home state - or mine. This war was declared against us a very long time ago but the opening salvos began in 1979 when muslim terrorists sacked our embassy in Tehran and took Americans hostage for over a year. The attacks won't stop by simply withdrawing our troops from Iraq or Afganistan. In fact, a withdrawal would inspire muslim terrorists that Osama bin Laden is correct: that Americans are gutless maggots that need to be extinguished.
A war of imperialism would be those waged by the old empires of Ancient Civilization up to 20th century imperialist Germany, Italy, and Japan. Russia and China are also imperialist but through indirect means such as Korea and Vietnam.

Cowardly applies to anyone who lacks the courage to fight for their freedom or the freedom of others. Instead, they sit in a comfortable place and criticize those who do have the courage to fight for their freedom and the freedom of others. Secure in the knowledge that someone will have their back with no sweat off their brow. In fact, they will belittle those warriors with insults about their intelligence and breeding, not realizing that those warriors have more I.Q. in their pinky than cowards could ever muster up in several lifetimes.

I hope that answers your question.

I don't exactly know what your getting at. But I believe the most cowardly people are those who begin wars and promote wars such as "important" politicians. But they would not be out there fighting and they don't. Why start something you can't finish yourself. Anti-war beliefs just means that you believe war will do nothing for the world or that you are against violence that does not mean pro war people are not as tough, it purely means that they believe tht violent measn will do more then a treaty or agreement. To all his own.

I don't know anyone who likes war, who embraces it with a passion. But someone who is anti-war, has no grip on reality. Why exactly are you against our troops being in Iraq? Because the people of Iraq are thanking our troops for being there? Because if we keep the terrorists busy running for their hides it keeps them far from here? Because you are free to sit on here and complain about what a great country we have and how it just doesn't fit your beliefs? What is it? Do you know? I know I am thankful that my brother, brother in law and cousin are there, fighting for something bigger than you and I can understand.

Because you fail to see the fighters won you the right to say anti-war things. If done right it will be listened to, but if done stupidly you will be looked down upon.
Or you could live in a communist country like Iraq or Cuba where their leaders get 100% of the vote and no body looks down or up on anything, they just "go with the flow"
So, show some respect for those that fought for your right to say what your saying, peace-out.

It is simply because some, I repeat, SOME, anti-war advocates are obsessed with their belief - they are anti-war for any reason and to hell with the consequences.
And, unfortunately, these are the ones who get all of the press and publicity and their impact is reflected upon all people who show an inclination to be anti-war while still retaining a certain level of common sense.

Because they are. War is a scary thing thats a fact. Nobody actually likes war, but many of us are intelligent enough to acknowledge that it is a necessary evil to keep the world headed in a positive direction. Many idiots here in America seem to think that now that we are free that we are done, but thats not true. We have to keep fighting until everyone in the world has the ability to wake up happy because they are free to live as they choose, so long as they do not harm anyone else in the process.

You can be anti-war, serve your country, and still be brave.

Simply join the Army or Marine Corps and request to be a Medic/Corpsman and be sent to Iraq or Afghanistan. They'll happily fulfill your wishes. If you survive, you'll have bragging rights on all the warhawks.

I have yet to meet somebody who calls themself a pacifist who has proved their bravery and patriotism by doing anything remotely like this.

No, anyone who is afraid to fight the good fight and acts on that impulse is a coward. Few if anyone is not afraid, but it is the brave man who does what he must for his country, his family, and others, putting his fear for himself and his own safety aside, for a larger goal and a greater honor, in service of others, God and country.

There is nothing on this entire vast regions on this earth that will be resolved by puny sanctions and/or idle threats imposed by one country on another. War is a necessary evil and the failure to understand this principal is unfortunately usually not appreciated until after a people are conquered or enslaved by another.

Because in this world (unfortunately) we still have to stop bad people out with violence sometimes, people out there that will not be stoppped by any other means other than a fight, people that all they care about is getting their way, even if they have to kill you in order to get what they want....."convert or else" was the warning the American taliban said to all of us some months ago, remember?...think about what that means and what he and others like him mean with that phrase. It is still a very primitive world and survival sometimes means we have to fight, that is the reality of this life.
