I doubt it. They're not committing suicide. They're defending their Hive & Queen... & they have no clue it'll cost them their lives when they sting you... Kinda sad, -you know?

I cannot answer this but what I can tell you is that bees do die when they sting you. What's interesting is that bees have an acidic sting; whereas, wasp and hornets have an alkaline sting. I'm not sure about wasps, but hornets have the ability to sting you up to something like 13 times before they die- keep some raid on hand if you run into a hornet- they are just plain nasty!! If you get stung by a bee, try rubbing some rubbing alcohol on it or get yourself a stinging nettle leaf and rub it against the sting. Likewise, vinegar may work to neutralizes wasp and hornet stings- hopefully you are not allergic to either of these- without allergy medication at the time of getting stung, you could die from inflammation and suffocation!

I saw a bumble bee in my bedroom, I got it with a tissue gently and put it outside.I went out an hour later, it was the first one I had seen that year.It came over and buzzed around me then landed on my arm and buzzed like it was thanking me,for letting it out, I think they do have a more intelligent consciousness then we think or assume they do.But that is a hard question really to answer, so I don't know the answer.I saw some on a rock in the mountains once, I went over and sat down right in the middle of them. hundreds of them .don't swat at them, only the killer bees will attack without provocation Y'all.Peace

well, the reason they sting is to defend themselves... so i guess they have the mindset that ther either gona get smushed and die or cause someone pain and defend urself than die....

to a human, it would be a more prideful death

but i dont know if bees r that smart

whilst hymenoptera (wasps, bees ants) have the most complex insect brains in the world, and bees are capable of learning facial recognition, i don't think they are self aware. in order to understand that you will die, you need to be self aware.
