I was @ Parris Island (where the female recruits train) and I knew lots of people @ MFRP (Medical Female RehabPlatoon) w/ pneumonia. One of my friends had it and had to wait at least two months to go back to training and graduate. I don't remember ANYONE being hospitalized for it.
We saw a lot of the male MRP recruits because the squad bay was right next to theirs and they are f*cking crazy! I remember one guy that was on crutches jumped out a two story window just for fun and landed on his feet!
You could ask his parents if they have heard anything or if the recruiter knows you, you could ask them. When my bf (now my husband and a Marine) heard I was hurt, he asked the recruiter to call MFRP and he listened while the recruiter talked to me on speaker. I didn't get to talk to my husband because the drill instructors started f*king with me, the recruiter made me yell "OORAH!!!" to stay motivated and they got on my a*s about it. Lol, they were like "You'e not a Marine, recruit!" Then I had to hang up. He'll be fine, he's held back for a month or so, but it'll be worth it.

You will only be able to find out from his letter or from his family. Family will be the only contact in this situation. Write him as much as you can also!!!! Anything from home is like gold!!! Not sure if the Red Cross will work because you are not Family.

His recruiter should be able to get you in contact with the unit he's with, they will contact the 1st sgt., or whoever handles that stuff. It can be un-nerving, but there are connections. The recruiter, the base chaplain can get you answers, or direct you to where or who you need to call, etc. Pneumonia is pretty serious to have in basic, so, hopefully they let him continue. It can be a career stopper though, once you've been sick, its always easier to get it again, like sunstroke.

Another poster suggested you contact the Red Cross. I used to volunteer for the Red Cross and I did aid to Military families. They DO NOT relay messages for girlfriends (unless there is a child involved) it has to be a family member and it has to be verified. You will have to contact his family. He'll be fine though try not to worry.

Well, he should be able to call you but if he can't you may have to have his parents help on that. Since they are blood relatives/his parents/next of kin, they would be able to find out a lot easier than you. It would be different if you were his wife.

Sorry, but you probably can't. Trust me- if he's sick, the Corps is taking good care of him. He'll be ok, even if he has to wait on graduation. If his situation was bad, his family would be notified. Don't worry too much, and good luck.

I would wait until he wrote or called you. It is hard I know, but it will be embarrassing for him if you don't and it won't make the situation any better. Just sit down and write him girl -- that may help as much as anything.

he's fine, either he or the base would call if there was a problem. You may have to just sit and wait since you are not family.

As a girlfriend, probably have to go through his parents, they can use the Red Cross to communicate with him. He might also be able to make a call.
Please, in the future, capitalize Marines.
