okay first off dont litter train them the litter hurts their little feet. Yes they are awesome pets . They cling to you like plastic wrap and they are wonderfull companion and fiercely protective . But you must socialize them . I have mine very well socialized and he even likes kids and plays with them . They are very smart and they pick up house training easily . I use puppy pads with mine . You can get pretty good puppy pads at wal-mart that is where I buy mine . If you are consistant with the housetraining it should not take the pup very long to pick it up. Well i hope I helped good luck .

I have two chihuahuas and they are both different. One was easy to train to sit, stay, beg pretty, and come on a count of 3. And the other will not listen for anything. If you get them as a puppy they are easier to train. Yes you can train them to a litter box, but to do that I would get a female because males tend to miss the mark because they lift their leg. It depends on the personality of the dog as to how hard it is and how long it takes. If you are home all the time it can do it it is easy. If you work it makes it harder. Potty training is hard and works best if you have at least the first two weeks off that you get it. You have to catch it while they do it or punishment doesnt work. Good luck

I have one but it is staying with my grandparents since I now have kids but she is great. They do love to stay with the owner and have constant companionship. They get stressed easy and cold easy. As for the little box training well it didn't work for mine. She prefers either going outside or in the same spot on a rug/puppy pad. She kept trying to eat the litter at first then got it all over the place.

Yes I have 2, great dogs. I don't know about anyone else, but mine require me being with them almost all the time, if I leave them at home I can only be gone for 2 hours tops, if long I better take them with me, and don't let me take one without the other because the one I'm trying to leave at home will have a fit, my boston and pit like staying at home so they can sleep on the couch.

I have one but she is mixed with a terrier of some sort but she looks like a chihuahua to me haha. I also have a one year old son...they get along great. I also have 2 pitbulls and they are best of friends! they sleep all curled up together. And as for the lady who talked about them going under things to pee and poo....I So know what you are talking about hahahaha.

i have 4!! there great pets

it depends on you, i tried to do the litter box but i didn't stick with it and that litter gets messy . so i use puppy pads, with chi's you have to watch them because they go underthings to pee or poo.

just show them that pee'n on the pad makes you happy but not too loud you may scare them.
