The goverment tells us if we destroy the poppy fields it will create a new group of terrorists, but without money, how dangerous could they be?
I bet telling the "Talibon" we were going to spray their crop if all sucicide bombings didn't stop within one week would do more than sending in a mere 20,000 soliders? What do you think?

The government will not destroy these peoples livelyhood of last couple hundred years. We want to capitalize on this big business. Heroin will be cheaper and more plentiful here at
home. Keep your ears open for those words. It will be or already is true. Do you know how much cash we gave the Taliban a couple of months before 9/11? Look it up, it was a lot. We do business with them (anyone actually), and will continue to do so.

The Taliban were deeply puritanical in their faith. Bush even gave them $43 million to eradicate poppies in August '01, and they cleared off all but 2% of the poppies from Afghanistan. The invasion brought back the opium/heroin manufacturing like crazy, and besides, there's nothing else profitable enough for the farmers to live on. When they get something more valuable to grow, when they get a decent governmental and economic infrastructure rebuilt, maybe they'll move from "failed state" status.

Did you know what Taliban means? Student Warriors. They were created when we helped to depose the King in Iran about 30 years ago. They are based in Iran, get money from Iran, just as the other terrorist faction do. Opium is not illegal in Afghanistan; the liberals would be the first to howl if we destroyed a country's cash crop. Once again, thanks to bleeding heart liberals, it's a no win situation. We win wars, not police actions.

Don't destroy them. The CIA needs those poppy fields.

Well it's not really our choice to go into another country and destroy their crops. Marijuana is legal in many parts of the world... Does that mean we should run in and destroy their crops because it's not legal here?

I think we're already trying to destroy the poppy fields. It's not as easy as you make it sound.
