I'm switching from composite to s-video, but I need to know,

Does the s-video cable send the sound to the TV too or do I still need the red and white audio wire to send the sound?

S-video is video only. Plug this along with the red & white cables but do not plug in the yellow cable. Yellow is also video. If you plug it in the TV will use it for video instead of the S-video cable. The S-video will give you better picture quality.

In S-Video the picture signal is already separated between the luminance(picture) and Chroma(color). By doing this you'll have better picture compare to composite. But this connector don't contain sound signal so you'll still need the white and red for the sound.
