Some foods that contain chicken include or may be just chicken parts like the feathers, beak, feet etc. If you want to get a quality food there are many good ones to choose from now though I don't like to feed strictly canned. If you want to be real natural, you might consider a raw diet and then you will know everything that your dog is eating and it will be human grade and not "rendered".

Otherwise some excellent brands that vary in price:

Authority Oven Baked
Nature's Recipe
Natural Balance
Royal Canin

These are brands that are readily available and good quality. They are also highly digestible foods.
Still, there are many brands to choose from. Look for the ingredients. Don't buy it if it has preservatives BHA or BHT.
Also avoid soy and corn, molasses and beet pulp.
There are other brands out there that may not be as easily available but are also excellent foods that I am just not familiar with.

Okay, here are the facts:
The only type of dog food that is made like human food is "holistic grade dog food" That means all the ingredients in the dog food came from stuff that would be approved for humans to eat. Iams, Pedigree, Science Diet, Eukanuba, and most common commercial brands are NOT holistic dog foods. Even these well known brands, that are sometimes even sold in vet clinics, contain lots of ingredients that you would never feed your dog such as chicken bones, old chicken that gets thrown in to the mix with plastic wrap and styrophome. There was even a case of a little girl eating a couple pieces of her dogs "name brand" dog food and dying from an allergic reaction to traces of penicillin in the dog food....from euthanized animals from dog pounds that were on the medication, BEING PUT IN YOUR DOGS FOOD. I highly recomment Nurto Ultra Holistic Dog Food. You can buy it at Petco, or Petsmart, and it is relatively priced compared to a lesser quality dog food. You have to expect to pay a little more because the ingredients are higher quality! They make dry and canned foods, in all varieties...weight management, puppy, and large breed foods.

canidae, innova, solid gold, california natural. wellness, dick van pattens.
These are a few really good foods u can trust.
What u heard is true the low quality foods u buy from ur vet and from the grocery store do contain chicken beaks, chicken feathers, diseased livestock, road kill and etc.
dog food is NOT prepared like human food.
here is a link that will explain what really is in pet foods.
people seem to be in denial that this stuff can be put in pet foods, but it is facts, not a myth

Canidae, Eagle Pack, Newman's Own Organic

Just make sure that the dog food does not contain any wheat or soy. It is coming out that these are not good for your dog.

I haven't heard of the chicken feathers thing. I doubt that's true.

Your best food is what you buy from your vet. But really, the best food for a dog is dry food with canned only for a treat. The dry food helps to keep their teeth clean and free of tarter.
The food available from the vet comes in different types for different type dogs. High fiber, high energy, low fat, hyper-allergenic and etc. Talk to your vet and they can help determine which is the best food.
I have found that food bought in the stores for dogs do not always have in them, what it claims on the labels. My dog is allergic to beef and got sick off of food that claimed there was no beef in it.
If you don't have a vet yet, you should really find one and get your dogs its proper shots and a check up. I was extremely grateful to have taken mine to a good vet this past summer when there was an out break of parvo disease in an area where my dog had been. It likely saved her from being very sick.

Iams

no they don't grind up chicken feathers...they aren't allowed to. Animal food is prepared just like people food...otherwise animal food companies wouldn't be in business..
