What ever happened to good old fashion manners?

When did everyone become too busy to say THANKYOU??

I takes one second of your time and shows the other person that you appreciate what they did for you.

Wouldn't the world be a nicer place if we ALL said it?

How right you are. Thanks, is good enough for me, I should also like to see the re appearance of the words I'm sorry, excuse me, and most of all 'please'. As you say, it takes very little time but makes a world of difference. Goes back to the beginning tho doesnt it.? Manners are taught usually by the parents, and if they dont know or care enough to instill these into their offspring, then thats why the world is becoming a miserable place .

This is a parent issue. Manners, etiquette, poise, etc. should be taught from home and expounded on in school or in beauty culture. When I was in school, we had a course called Nancy Taylor charm class. The theme for the course was "beauties aren't born, they are Taylor made". Well that's good if you are somewhere the course is offered, and you have the time and funds to take such a class, But just like I said, this is a home matter. This is something our parents should still be teaching in our homes. Agree? This is why society is slipping, "parents are not willing or able or just don't have the time to fill in these types of gaps. I don't think that we as parents always notice this type of lack.

I have a fair share... -But I'm probably not as polite as I could be. You're right, though...-Manners are on the wane. It's a shame too, because good manners can open alot of doors BESIDES making the world a more tolerable place. Civility is in decline...-& that reality puts an ugly face upon our appearance driven Society. ... Keep up the "drum beat", -maybe somebody's listening... :)

Thank You! And I MEAN it - no kidding, I've often wondered that myself.
My mother always taught me to say 'please' and thank you' - which I still do. Over the years I've noticed that by doing such a simple thing, people feel more respected by saying these words and in turn, usually you receive the respect back. Goes to the old adage - you get what you give.
And yes, the world might be a bit nicer if more said it - definitely!

Yes, the world would be nicer. It's like everyone one is running on anger and hatred most days. I never hear that word either, but I guess I'm one of the few that actually know it's a word. I think it's dissapating from our language.

Yes, saying Thank you is a good manners. It is a sign of appreciation and acknowledgment of the help received.

However, it should be from heart but not just from head .. it should be just used mechanically, instead it should be felt.

I always try my hardest to mind my manner. Ever at restaturant, I mind my manner. I always try my hardest to be as polite as possible. I absolutely HATE those who have no manner. I have stop see girls simply because she have no manner. I've stop help people out simply because they doesn't say thanks.

Unfortunately many people end up think I'm a huge assh0le because of that.

Odd things is many people ask me if I was in military or raise in other countries.

good point, a thank-you does go a very long way, and with people try to say their name back to them if you can, especially on the phone, make it personal. thomas
