God created us and we are under his dominion. In Genesis, God gave man dominion over the animals, both land and sea. Is the best example of how God deals with us, the way we deal with our dominions? For example: we love our dogs very much! they disobey, you get angry! why? because the instruction you gave them was for their own good. For their safety and well being. If they misbehave you punish them. If they behave you hug and reward them. Same as our kids.

Of course, every Dog has a different master and not one powerful one, but Im talking in context of you, as an individual over the pet.

I think children would be a more appropriate analogy rather than animals. In Christian thought, animals don't have souls...Christ didn't sacrifie himself for the animals; he did it for people.

While your analogy is aiming in the right direction, I think it's a bit off. If you compare animal ownership to divine parenthood, the comparisons don't add up. For example, if your dog ate every bit of food in the house, you wouldn't throw him in a trash compactor alive to be tortured to death, but if a human under the divine parenthood of God goes through and eats everything in sight (gluttony), God will throw that person into a lake of fire to burn for eternity. Another example is that your dog can go out and hump any other dog he chooses, but if a human does that, into the fire they go.

It makes one wonder: do we have more affection for our wards than God does for His wards? Are we held more accountable for our actions because we're self-aware? Is humanity intrinsically flawed because we espouse love and forgiveness but embrace a God of punishment and damnation? I don't think any human can give a clear answer. Perhaps we should ask our pets. They oftentimes seem to be better people than humans anyway. :-)

We also have dominion over cows. We kill cows and eat their flesh, and make their skin into jackets and boots. Do you really want to worship a god that does that?

Some people object to the idea that they have descended from apes. I object to being God's dog. I think it's a bad analogy.

No. Lower forms of animal life are incapable of abstract thought.
