I've never seen this before. Her half-grown kitten, a neutered male, vomits huge quantities of watery vomit. I didn't know the little tummy could hold so much. He has been doing this a few times a week since he was pretty little. He's had vet checks, shots, and has been very well-cared for. His growth and weight are very good. Has anybody seen this before? Thanks for whatever you can tell us.

I've owned lots of cats, and they all puke a little now and then. There was like a pint of stinky, watery stuff coming out of this cat with some force behind it. But he seems healthy otherwise. I'm wondering if he has some kind of obstruction that comes and goes?

Hi Denise...vomiting can be caused by many variables such as hairballs, gorging food too quickly, switching foods suddenly, accidental ingestion of toxic substances, intestinal parasites kidney/liver failure...other feline diseases/disorders. Cats who are unable to eat can develop a life-threatening disorder called hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver syndrome) http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=1&cat=1327&articleid=217 so it's important to have the kitten evaluated to determine the cause of the vomiting before hepatic lipidosis occurs. Kittens especially are very susceptible to becoming dehydrated so this is more critical.

I'm not sure at all what it is..

but in case its fur, have your friend try a product called "Laxatone"

it helps eliminate hairballs so I suppose it dissolves hair in the stomach.

You feed the cat about an inch worth from the tube and at first you give it 3 days in a row and then after that once or maybe twice a week.

it is malt flavored and my cat loves it.

my cat has always thrown up a lot, either hairballs or food to the point that I have to feed her soft food small amounts around 5 times a day to make sure her stomach doesn't get too full. she still throws up though but the Laxatone at least stopped the fur ball throwing up.

Ive heard of a lot of cats that would rather vomit than pee or poop in a dirty litter box. Check the litterbox or try cleaning it after every time you see the cat using it so that he knows its clean.

Good Luck!!
