Since you do have a fever along with the soar throat, it could possiblly be strep since strep does present with a fever. However, if could just be a bad cold becuase if you have a really bad cold, which you also have the symptoms of, a fever could present from the body's immune attack/inflmation of glands etc. Try to drink more fluids, and maybe try some throat lozenges. Like the previous poster said, gargling also helps. However, if it is strep and it doesn't get better in a whlie you should try to go to a clinic or doctor, because you might need antibiotics. Hope this helps, but I'm not a doctor so I might not be right.

Health departments often have small clinics that do not charge or charge very little for the visit and only a small amount for the actual services provided. They could do a throat culture for you if you. Don't go to work if you think it is strep as strep is highly contagious. Also most homeless shelters have fee clinics and anyone in the community can go to them.
In the mean time the following MAY help.
Fever without knowing the case needs careful treatment, young people can have complications caused by what they take. You could safely use a cold pack under your neck, which will help the swelling in your neck and the fever. When I have a fever I put a 2-Litar bottle of coke or water in the fridge and then sleep with it against my chest area and my Fever usually breaks within twenty-four hours. Sounds weird, but it works for me.
Beleive it or not, Garlic is a proven natural anti-biotic, eating a clove of it a day while you are sick can help both fungal and bacterial infection. I know, I've done this often and it helps. Not the whole bulb, one a single clove from a bulb, a bulb if you don't know usually has six to eight cloves in it. Make sure you eat it with food in your stomach, so you don't end up with an upset stomach. If you can't eat because of your throat, then at least drink a full eight ounces of milk first, not juice, but milk to coat your stomach or eat a peice of toast if you can.
With a sore throat you normally want to cut back on dairy, as they create more flem and mucus.
Gargling with water and lemon juice, real lemon juice, such as the kind used in cooking, can clear bacteria from the throat, then you eat a little honey and it will sooth your sore throat. The lemon juice also helps remove mucus.
If you are not doing much better by tomorrow, three days of severe headache along with a sore throat can mean something more serious, please find some clinic to go to, even ask your local Emergency room if they can tell you of a free clinic in your town. Just call them and ask and tell them why you are asking. Occassionally a doctor there will have compassion and agree to help you for free his or her self.
HOPE TOMORROW BRINGS YOU a head that doesn't hurt and a throat free of pain.

You poor thing! The best thing for your throat is warm(as hot as you can stand) water with a tablespoon of salt.,stir it up real good and gargle as long as you can stand it until the whole glass is gone.Ibuprofen will help your headache and swollen glands take as directed according to your age.You can take 800mg at once of ibuprofen if you are an adult if you are not an adult then only 400mg. that is usually two small tablets.Another thing that is great is this tea and it is called throat coat I believe its made by herbal traditions?Anyway its made with slippery elm bark and it helps your sore throat like nothing Ive ever tried. If your not better in a couple days you need to be seen by a doctor and many doctors will take you on a sliding scale(The cost of your visit is determined by your income) and you can make payments on that. They will not turn you down if you need to be seen. They cant its against the law.I hope your better soon....

Swollen glands usually are the sign of a bacterial infection, possibly a cold, but they could be a sign of other serious diseases. If it doesn't feel like a cold, you really should check with a physician. Try a free clinic in your area, even if it is a VD or birth control clinic, they will usually help you at low or no cost, or they can direct you to a place that can help. Remember, your tax dollars pay for those services, so take advantage of them. You could also try an online website I love, called symptomchecker.com. They have tons of information!
Remember, when you get sick, it's your body's way of singing (even if off-key) Paul Simon's, 59th street Bridge Song; 'Slow down you move too fast'. Don't burn the candle at both ends!

Maybe tonsilities or strept. Take Tylenol for your fever. Mix up some salt in a glass of warm water and gargle. Do this several times a day (4 or 5). If this doesn't help, try going to an immediate care facility as I don't think they cost as much.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. More details and home remedies available at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html
