Work on developing good posture.
Yoga and other exercises that build strenght and flexibility can help elongate and decompress your spine. It is also good for your overall physical and mental well being.

As for foods, the simplest thing would just be to eat foods that are high in vitamins, minerals, and of course calcium which would help your bones grow. You could also get an x-ray if you're really worried. The x-ray actually measures the growth bone (growth plate) in your arm and the radiologist/doctor can tell if you're growing at the right rate for your age. If not, then the doctor can help you out, and give you some advice/treatment from there. But just you so know, 5'9'' at age 14 is not short, and you can still grow. I'm 18, almost 19 and I'm only 5 feet flat. I'm petite: short and thin. My dad's side of the family is tall and thin, and my mom's side is short. So I guess I got my mom's height and my dad's metabolism. I didn't used to like being short (and sometimes I still don't) but you know there are worse things in life, and believe me I'd love to be 5'4'' let alone 5'9''! I actually did the growth bone x-ray, and it turns out my growth rate is just fine...I'm just short. :)

Hang out with shorter people.
Seriously though, you are a very normal height for your age. You can probably expect to naturally grow 2 or 3 more inches. If not, who cares? I'm 27 years old and 5' 10", and it works just perfectly. Look at it this way: the world is designed for a 5' 9" person, since that is average. You fit perfectly in cars, trains, airplanes, etc..

Let me start off by saying that in most cases your height is fairly predetermined by whatever DNA you received. Most of your growth is controlled by a gland in your brain that produces special hormones that trigger the growth plates in your skeletal structure to expand.
Now dont dispare its not all bad news. It is shown that by maintaining a healthy diet (preferably high in protein) and exercising regularly you can stimulate further growth, dont get your hopes to high however, any additional growth will be minor if any.
There is one more important fact you should be aware of. There are things that will stunt your growth if used in excess. One of the main causes of stunted growth is the use of stimulants such as cigarettes, coffee or other cafinated beverages. The over use of these products can actually weaken the gland in your brain and possibly stunt your growth.
I would advice not taking up habits like drinking coffee or smoking cigarettes until at least age 18.
