why don't you get a chichuahua from a rescue organization in your area. they are the best place to get your pet! they rescue and save these pets, take care of them, train them and prepare them with shots and all to be adopted.

since they are non-profit organizations, it will cost you so much less since all they will charge is what it cost them to care for the dog and the shots. they may even bring your dog to you.

go to google and type in: dog rescue in ______________
type where you are located (state) and it will give you all the listing in your state. they also have small satellite in many cities in your state and they will get you in touch with the ones nearest you.

i have two rescue dogs (great pyranees) which i am so happy to have. i will always go to a rescue group before anywhere else as it helps pets that need homes and all these folks volunteer their time helping out.

There are always reputable breeders that have pups available for purchase. You can locate a breeder near you by checking the AKC breeder referral list, look for Chihuahua. Click on the referral person's name to get their email address ( it opens in Outlook sometimes but just write down the address). The Chihuahua Club of America is a great resource for information as well. They have breeders and rescues. You could give a rescued Chihuahua a happy loving home if you choose to adopt. Click on the second link to get the rescue representative's name, contact # and email.

The 3rd link is Yahoo search for other Chihuahua Rescue Groups from all over the U.S., Canada, and around the World. Please consider adopting a Chihuahua and giving him/her a chance to have a loving home.

You can also find pups for sale in your local newspaper, trader papers, and posted on bulletins at vet offices. I do not know where you live but give these ideas a try.

I do not and will not recommend buying a pup over the internet that you have not seen. If you decide to use an internet based pet site then be sure to correspond with the seller, get photos, ask for a guarantee and limit the travel time of the pup to be sent-pick the seller closest to you if possible.

In my opinion you should locate a responsible breeder in your area so if something happens to the pup or you have questions then you can easily speak with or go see the breeder. This is not so easy if you had your dog sent by plane to you from a state 1000 miles or more away.
