Yes it definately is a sign. But only if you define "near" as 5 million years.
The sun is currently in a phase that will end with it expanding and engulfing earth and the moon.

if you definition of near is some where around 14,000,000 years from now, then yeah. next time read up on the facts.

Hm...well I'm guessing that we will be gone by then, since that is still what...a billion or so years away, and look at the world now.
