All white animals (dogs included) usually are that way because of inferior recessive genes, deafness being a good indicator. It may have been something genetic- nothing you could do about it then.
The got thin overnight thing- dogs don't just lose a ton of weight overnight-unless he was running nonstop or had a very high fever.

I would just like to make a few comments on this question and a couple of the answers. I agree that a dog does not get thin in one day. If his pink thing came out and did not go back in that is a penile prolapse and can be very painfull to the dog. I would like to tell the person who answered and then said she got the information from being a "vetinary nurse", first off the word you were tying to spell is veterinary not vetinary, second they are called vet techs, not vet nurses.
I agree with the genetic problem from him being all white. Usually, all white dogs and/or cats especially if they have blue eyes are for some reason predisposed to deafness. I think there is a host of other potential problems that are common as well but I the only one I remember is the white w/blue eyes equals deaf. I am sorry for your loss but I hope in the future that if you have an issue that you think needs veterinary attention you tell the receptionist at the vets what is going on so if a true emergency they can get you in immediately instead of in three days. I am going to assume that you didn't state what the problem was since any dog who is peeing on themselves should be seen right away as should one with penile prolapse and a dog that is exhibiting both is without a doubt an emergency situation and any receptionist with half a brain should have realised this.

First of all, there is a reason it is looked down upon to breed white pit bulls - they usually have congenital defect and can be deaf. IMO three days is a long time to wait on something that is just not right. Him not even wanted to extend the energy to go out and urinate is very wrong.
I'm not sure what you are asking here, but the only way to know why your dog died is to have a necropsy performed. Most state run labs are pretty reasonable as far as cost to have this done.
It could be a toxin (but people also think someone has poisoned there dog, when indeed no one did), it could have been a congenital defect, it could have been septic, a perforated bowel, etc.
I would say most likely congenital defect. We say a bizarre case where a dog was referred for a cardiac work up (young white pit bull). The heart was completely normal. But the dog had tons of fluid in its abdomen (the RDVM thought it was from heart disease). After working it up, we learned it was something having to do with his liver. We ended up exploring him and as it turned out, the dog had a shunt and due to the high portal pressures, had developed all these crazy vascular shunts. That was the only way it survived to the rip age of 2. Needless to say there was nothing we could do, and the dog was euthanized.
These things happen, we don't know why. Just know that you didn't do anything to cause you puppy's death and possibly there could have been know way to prevent it.

I dont know what ailment your dog had. In the event no one has said this to you,.I will only because I believe it.Your puppy climbed up into the bed of the person that it loved best, your puppy put its head on the shoulder of the thing it was most comfortable with and the little pup hung on until it knew you were there,so it could see you one more time before it left.We humans are so very privileged to have our animals to love us.I grieve for you

I'm sorry to hear about your dog but a animal does not get thin in just one day. The only way he could have been thin would be from not eating. or a disease that just ravished his body and this is highly unlikely, even this would take more than one day. Perhaps another animal were eating his food & you did not realize it. What are you referring to when you say his??? came out & would not go back in all the way?

I'd say he died from poisoning from a chemical or food not because he was a runt. I'm ever so sorry and cannot understand how you would feel but I do have some idea as my dog died just over a year ago and I still haven't fully gotten over it.

You should call the vet and explain to him what your dog was doing and the way he was behaving he should be able to tell you why your dog died. Sorry about the dog. Good Luck in finding out what happened

He may have had a seizure, which is hard to detect in dogs, unless the breed is known for them. I speak this, because two of my Mini-schnauzers both had them. Did your dog get into anything poisonous? Sometimes they put their noses into clean supplies or cabinets in the garage that have cleaning solvents in them and one whiff does them in. Talk to your vet, see if they found anything wrong with him.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I am very sorry for your loss. You did not ask a question though. You could have taken your dog in for a necropsy. That is an autopsy for animals. Again I'm sorry for you. I have no idea what happened to your dog.
